In the parking lot, Victoria called the police to report that her car had been broken into. She and Colleen stared at the shattered window. Victoria realized that, along with an MP3 player and a pair of new sunglasses, her portfolio, containing photos of the Grugeon art collection she was attempting to acquire, was also missing. Victoria told Colleen there was nothing to worry about.
Later, Brad met with Colleen at Crimson Lights, and he learned from Colleen that the portfolio had been stolen. Colleen found it strange that Victoria had been so calm about the theft. Brad was relieved that no one had been hurt.
After Brad left, J.T. met with Colleen at Crimson lights. Colleen told him that Victoria had spoken with a broker about the Grugeon art collection and that the thief had taken Victoria's portfolio with the photos of the items she wanted to purchase. J.T. warned Colleen not to get involved.
Brad entered Victoria's office. Brad and Victoria discussed the fact that the timing of the break-in was suspicious because the portfolio contained information about the Grugeon collection, but nothing about the reliquary. Brad expressed fear because the thieves knew that Victoria was hunting the same items they were. Brad said that whoever was searching for the same collection posed a danger to Victoria. Brad warned Victoria to stay out of the situation because he was worried that she would get hurt. Brad received a call and said he had to leave. As he was leaving, Victoria reminded him that they were on the same side.
After his meeting, Brad returned to Victoria's office and apologized for being harsh. He told her he was concerned for her safety. Victoria accepted his apology, but she was worried that she would be incapable of helping Brad. Brad advised her to drop the search, hoping that would keep them safe. Victoria called her art broker and told him to end the search for the reliquary. Brad informed Victoria that Paul and J.T. were searching for the reliquary. Victoria noted that their search couldn't easily be traced.
Later, Brad called J.T. They planned to meet with Paul to discuss their search for the reliquary.
At the coffeehouse, Colleen and J.T. discussed Victoria's interest in finding the Grugeon reliquary and the theft of Victoria's portfolio from her car. Since Colleen and J.T. believed there was a connection, Colleen told J.T. she was eager to locate the reliquary. J.T. cautioned her not to keep searching for the reliquary because, aside from himself and Paul, there were dangerous people looking for it. When J.T. later dropped Colleen off at her art history class, he noticed that she had someone else's computer. Colleen told J.T. that Professor Korbel had loaned her his because hers had been damaged.
Professor Korbel arrived a short time later and ruffled J.T. by addressing him as "T.J." Korbel asked J.T. if he'd suddenly developed an interest in art history or if he was just trying to distract Korbel's assistant. J.T. said he was leaving, but as he was about to leave, he couldn't resist addressing Korbel as Professor "Cowbell." Once J.T. was gone, Korbel immediately put Colleen to work on a PowerPoint presentation about Vatican art.
Korbel noticed that Colleen appeared distracted, and he commented that he wasn't paying her to daydream. Colleen reminded him that he wasn't paying her at all and that she was researching the Grugeon collection. She said she was looking for a particular piece for Victoria. Korbel was surprised that Colleen was interested in a specific piece of art. Colleen asked the professor for help, since he had an inside connection into the art world.
At Newman Enterprises, Neil entered Carmen's office and confronted her. He told Carmen that she wasn't a nice person. He asked how such a fair and compassionate person could be so relentless. He asked Carmen if having Dru fired hadn't been enough for Carmen. He asked if she needed to take Dru to court. Carmen said that Dru was the relentless one and that Dru had put herself into the situation she was in. Neil stated that Carmen had interfered with Dru's career and her family. Carmen claimed she was terrified of Dru, and she was overjoyed that Dru wouldn't be returning to Newman.
After Neil left, Carmen called Will Bardwell, her lawyer, and told him she was working in a very bad environment, and she wanted Will to speed up the trial date.
Neil met with Victoria in her office, regarding Dru's job. Victoria informed Neil that an unpaid leave of absence was the best she could do for Dru. She said that Dru's career was on hold, and she hated the position Dru was in because of what had happened. Neil asked if it was possible for Dru to work from home, but Victoria said that the legal department wouldn't allow it, especially with Dru's trial looming on the horizon.
Devon and Lily were surprised when Dru arrived home in the middle of the day with a big box of items from her office. On the computer, Dru explained that she'd taken a leave of absence in order to be home with Devon and to take an intensive course in sign language. Devon, however, wasn't pleased that Dru had given up her job for him. After Devon left the room, Dru admitted to Lily that Carmen had had her fired. Lily was shocked and warned Dru that it wasn't a good idea to hide the truth from Devon.
Ignoring Dru's wish to keep quiet, Lily chose to tell Devon about Carmen's part in Dru's firing. The news infuriated Devon. Using the keyboard, Lily explained that Victoria only considered Dru to be on a leave of absence. However, Devon became angry when he discovered that Dru had lied to him again. Lily stressed the fact that Dru was embarrassed, and she advised Devon not to yell at Dru. Feeling sorry for Dru, Devon surmised that it was Carmen who had the problems, not Dru. Devon told Lily that he was angry with Carmen.
After running a few errands, Dru returned home. She became very upset when she discovered that Lily had told Devon that Carmen had been responsible for having her fired. She was also upset that Devon wasn't at home. Dru immediately called Neil. She left him a voicemail message explaining that Devon might be with Carmen.
At the office, Devon confronted Carmen and told her that he was there to talk to her about Dru. Devon agreed that Dru could be intense and that she often had very strong feelings about some things, feelings which also made her a great parent. He told Carmen that the Winterses had made him part of a real family. They had saved him, and they'd given him a promising future. He told Carmen that he didn't want Dru to lose her job, her freedom, or her family. Carmen attempted to interrupt, but Devon continued. He told Carmen that Dru was a good person and that she wouldn't hurt anyone.
Carmen wrote a note for Devon to read that said there was no point discussing it because she'd made up her mind. She wrote that she was afraid of Dru. Devon insisted that Dru wouldn't hurt anyone, so there was no danger. However, Carmen wrote that Dru had instigated the problem. Devon asked Carmen "how the hell" she could look him in the eye and say such a thing.
Devon informed Carmen that he'd witnessed how Carmen had relentlessly pursued Neil, how she'd had dinner with Neil at his apartment, and how she'd made certain to spend as much time with Neil as she could while Dru had been out of the country. He asked if the charges was her revenge because Neil had chosen Dru over her. Devon asked Carmen what kind of a nut job she was.
Neil called home after his meeting and learned that Devon had planned to confront Carmen. When Neil walked past Carmen's office window, he saw Devon and Carmen arguing. He entered the office and asked what was going on. Carmen became frustrated and stormed out.
Neil called Dru to tell her he would take Devon home. Devon said Neil had work to do, and he'd take a cab. When Neil insisted on driving him, Devon became very angry and said that he'd taken a cab to get to Newman Enterprises, and he could take one to get home. Devon stated emphatically that he wasn't a child, and he left. Neil wasn't able to follow Devon because a coworker delayed him. Neil brushed past the coworker, but he was not in time to catch Devon before the elevator doors closed.
Before leaving to go to Jabot, Ashley studied a file that contained Jack's figures representing the projected income from an N.V.P. tie-in with Jabot. Although it was risky, Jack insisted that the potential for profit was great. He told Ashley that Mr. Kim was going to make an appearance at Jabot, and he reminded Ashley that she needed to maintain a poker face because Mr. Kim didn't know that she was in on the deception.
Later, when Mr. Kim arrived at Jabot, Ashley was there to greet him. Mr. Kim commented that once he'd exited the elevator, there had been dead silence among the staff. He said he wanted to make the transition as smooth as possible. Ashley commented that change often scared the employees.
While Ashley chatted with Mr. Kim, Jack spoke to Jill about ramping up the tie-ins. However, Jill claimed it was too much too soon, and she refused to go along with the proposal. She asked Jack why he was pushing the deal. Jack said that N.V.P. was offering a colossal opportunity for expansion, and not acting on it would be a terrible mistake. However, Jill insisted that the proposal was too aggressive, and Jabot wasn't strong enough at that time to risk global expansion. She nixed the plan.
Jack was furious, and he called Mr. Kim. Jack told him that he had a little problem that he needed Mr. Kim to fix. Moments later, Mr. Kim left a message for Jill, expressing his wish to meet with her about Jack's proposal.
Angry, Jill immediately phoned Jack and told him she didn't appreciate Jack going over her head. She said that Mr. Kim had called her about Jack's proposal, and if Jack thought undermining her was going to win him any allies, he was sadly mistaken. Jack claimed that with friends like Jill, he didn't need the competition.
Jill's ire escalated when Jack told her he'd had to go to her boss because he had never believed she could run things at Jabot, and their earlier conversation had proven that. He said that the employees that were left at Jabot were lucky they finally had some leadership.
Later, Mr. Kim met with Jack, Ashley, and Jill in Jill's office. Mr. Kim informed Jack and Ashley that Jill had declined to go forward with Jack's proposal. Ashley stated that although the plan was ambitious, it had merit. Mr. Kim stated that the potential profits warranted the increased expenditures. Jill worried that the profits were not a sure thing. Mr. Kim explained that Jill should have allowed N.V.P. the opportunity to revise and address her concerns with a new proposal, but Jill had dismissed it in the initial meeting. He said that in the future, Jill was to consult with him before making any final decisions.
Ashley defended Jill, stating that Jill had been focused on steering the company through a crisis, but Mr. Kim said that going forward, he wanted all reports submitted to him, in writing, of all activities and decisions coming from Jill's office. He wanted to make certain that Jabot and the House of Kim were in sync with the company's plans for the future. Jill stated that she preferred face-to-face meetings, but Mr. Kim declined her suggestion.
Ashley informed Mr. Kim that Jill had been part of the family business for years. Jack stated that his main interest in Jabot was to prevent his father's vision from being swept aside. Offended, Jill stated that as CEO, she had always protected John's vision. Mr. Kim cut the meeting short, but before he left, Mr. Kim told Jack that he approved the expansion of Jabot with the N.V.P. tie-in deal.
After Jack left, Jill asked Ashley why she felt she was on the outside looking in. Jill wanted to know what was going on. Ashley offered Jill an apology and said she wished she could give Jill an explanation.
When Ashley arrived at home, she congratulated Jack on hitting a new low by humiliating Jill and removing her authority. Jack stated that he would do whatever it took to put Jabot back on top, and he wouldn't let Jill get in his way. When Ashley attempted to press the issue, Jack reminded Ashley that if Katherine found out that he was the owner of the House of Kim, then she would take Jabot back.
Michael sat at Lauren's bedside in the hospital. She asked about the baby. Michael told her that his lungs were underdeveloped, and he had jaundice. She got paranoid, and Michael realized her fever was up. He got the doctor, who said it was from a medicine she'd been given for a staph infection, but their baby didn't have it. However, she couldn't see him until she was in the clear because she could still pass it on.
Lauren's fever continued to rise, and she thought that Sheila was after the baby. Michael calmed her down. He went to see the baby and talked to him. The doctor stopped and told Michael that if the baby continued to progress, he most likely wouldn't have any long-term damage. Gloria and Michael talked, and Gloria apologized for being selfish. Michael took a picture of the baby and showed it to Lauren.
Gloria and Phyllis talked about the baby, and Phyllis thought he was getting stronger. Nick entered with a change of clothes for Phyllis. They went to the cafeteria, and Nick told Phyllis that Noah had been a preemie and that was fine. He reassured her that Baby Baldwin would be okay. She said she couldn't wait for Michael's son to meet his new best friend. They went back and saw Michael, who told them the baby would be fine. Nick congratulated Michael on his new son.
Nick and Phyllis went home, and Phyllis worried about their baby. Nick told her that he didn't know what the future held, but Phyllis and their child were his future. They slept together, and later, Nick told Phyllis he wanted to start their future right then. He asked her to elope.
Neil arrived home and told Dru that Devon had gotten into it with Carmen. They didn't know where he was, and Dru freaked out. Lily told them that the reason he'd left was because they'd been suffocating him. She said he was probably fine and to back off. Lily went to meet Daniel at the coffeehouse.
Dru complained about losing her job, and Neil told her she could turn it into something positive. They thought Devon might have run away, and they called Yolanda to make sure he hadn't gone there. Dru and Neil put on music and danced together.
Lily got ahold of Devon, and he met her and Daniel at the coffeehouse. He told them that his other senses were heightened. Lily called and told Dru that she'd found Devon, and Dru and Neil kissed. Devon and Lily returned home, and they had dinner as a family. Neil and Dru told Devon that he should start driving again soon, and he said he wanted to move out.
Jack and Sharon entertained Mr. Kim at the Abbott mansion. They talked about running Jabot, and Mr. Kim jokingly talked about stealing Sharon away. She said as long as Jack kept paying her, she was staying put. Mr. Kim got sick, and they took him to the emergency room. While they were waiting, they ran into Nick and Phyllis in the cafeteria. Phyllis told them about Michael and Lauren's baby, and they talked about Noah being a preemie.
Jack told Phyllis about the Jabot/N.V.P. partnership, and she got angry that he was making unilateral decisions. Michael walked out and saw Jack and Sharon and yelled at Jack to leave because he'd caused Michael's family enough problems. Mr. Kim had food poisoning, and they were keeping him overnight for observation. Jack and Sharon returned to the Abbott mansion, and they kissed.
Jack went to the hospital to pick up Mr. Kim but ran into Victor. Victor was beginning to ask questions about Jack's use of the 250 million dollars Victor had loaned him. Jack said he was interested in buying near the retreat in India where Victor had gone. Jack offered to take Victor back to Newman after his doctor's appointment. While Victor was gone, Jack talked to Victor's doctor to try to determine the likelihood of Victor returning to his old personality. The doctor said it could happen.
Victor went to see Michael and offer him, and later, Gloria, his support. When Jack arrived to pick up Victor, Gloria warned Kevin that Jack was worming his way into Mr. Kim's good graces. If they weren't careful, the two of them would lose their jobs.
Jack left to take Victor back to Newman Enterprises. Victor wanted to see Jack's business plans, and Jack agreed to meet with him later. As Jack got on one elevator, Mr. Kim got off the other and introduced himself to Victor.
Jana wanted to make a date with Kevin, but he felt like he needed to be at the hospital with Michael and Lauren. Jana assured him that everything would be okay. Later, Billy walked in and told Jana that he could show her how the other half lived. He began by offering to take her on a tour of the Chancellor house.
Dru tried to get Lily to agree that Devon wasn't ready to move out, but Lily was on Devon's side. She said she knew he had some problems, but it wouldn't help to be smothered by his parents. Meanwhile, Devon talked to Neil about moving out. Although Neil was concerned, it became apparent to him that Devon's mind was made up.
Dru and Neil were together when they found out that her court date had been set. When Neil tried to get in touch with Michael, they learned that Lauren had gone into labor prematurely. The two of them went to the hospital to offer Michael their support. Dru said she'd understand if Michael needed to hand the case over to someone else, but Michael said no. He said they'd get together and brainstorm the best way to handle Dru's legal situation. Michael had to leave them when a nurse arrived to tell Michael that Lauren's fever had broken.
Michael explained to Lauren that the baby's health was progressing well, but Lauren had been very ill. She was apparently getting better, however, so the doctors agreed that she could see her son.
At Crimson Lights, Devon bumped into a guy that he hadn't heard and caused the man to spill coffee everywhere. Jana, Billy, and Lily jumped to Devon's aid, and Billy explained to the stranger that Devon was deaf. Devon seemed to lose confidence about being able to live on his own. Lily suggested that he move in with her and Daniel as a temporary solution. They went to the Winterses' apartment to pick up his stuff, hoping they wouldn't run into their parents.
Neil took Dru to his future jazz club so she could check the place out. She became as enthusiastic about it as Neil was. Neil sensed that Dru needed somewhere to direct her energy, so he suggested that she be his interior designer. When Dru wondered if someone else would be better for the job, Neil said he needed someone he could trust, and that was Dru. She was moved by his words of faith in her.
Lauren was able to get up and see her baby. Michael and Lauren happily looked in and tried to decide his name. Lauren told Michael that she couldn't have gotten through it without him. They joked around about the baby's name but suddenly were shocked when the baby's machine started beeping. The doctor took them away but later told them that the baby had stopped breathing for a moment. They said that they monitored that all the time, and the baby would be okay. Michael and Lauren decided to name the baby Fenmore Michael Baldwin.
Nikki was surprised that Jack was in such good graces with Mr. Kim. Jack said that he thought Mr. Kim would do right for Jabot. Nikki told Victor that she was proud of the way Jack was handling the situation. Jack and Nikki talked about Michael's baby, and they remembered when they'd lost their baby.
Kevin was upset when he found out that Jana was going on a tour at Katherine's house with Billy. Jana had a wonderful time at Katherine's and was amazed with Jill and Katherine. Jana saw a dragon art piece, and Jill and Katherine were impressed with her art history knowledge. Jana thanked Billy for letting her see the other side. When Jana left, Billy tried to kiss her, but she avoided him. She later told Kevin that she was not interested in Billy.
Victor had coffee with Mr. Kim and tried to get information about his business. Victor learned from Katherine that Jack had secretly tried to obtain Jabot by means of another company.
Phyllis had to go to Santa Fe on business, and Nick suggested that he go with her. When Phyllis wondered if he had business there, Nick said no -- it was their chance to elope. Phyllis quickly agreed. Although both of them later talked separately to Sharon and Jack in pleasant conversations, neither of them could bring themselves to tell their exes their plans.
Instead, Phyllis and Nick went to the hospital to see how the Baldwin baby was doing. Michael had spent the night at the hospital after Lauren had been released. Lauren admitted that she hadn't slept all that well, but it had helped to know that Michael was looking over their baby, who they were calling "Fen" for Fenmore. Nick and Phyllis marveled that they were with their partners and having children, something they couldn't have predicted a couple of years before.
Later, after Nick and Phyllis left, Paul arrived while Lauren was in with the baby. He had some disturbing news for Michael. When Lauren joined them, Paul shared the news with her, too. Sheila had been a patient of a plastic surgeon in South America. Afterward, the surgeon had been killed, and all his records had been destroyed. So, Sheila could be anywhere, disguised as anyone, and they had no way to track her.
When Jack found out that Devon was moving in with Daniel and Lily, who needed a bigger place, he had a solution. They could move into an apartment that the Abbotts used as an investment property close to GCU. It was large enough for the three of them, the rent was cheap, and it was close to campus. Phyllis, Neil, and Dru were grateful for Jack's solution.
Neil had a business meeting with Carmen that he kept strictly business. Hurt by his attitude, Carmen tried to reason with him. Neil said it was Carmen, not Dru, who had the problem. From there on out, he wanted nothing but a professional relationship with Carmen.
Meanwhile, Dru was talking to Sharon about the situation with Devon and about Carmen. Sharon told her not to take Devon's move personally. He was just asserting his independence. Both women agreed that Carmen preyed on men. Sharon wasn't entirely sure what had happened between Carmen and Jack, but she did think Carmen had shifted her focus from him to Neil awfully fast. When she wondered if she herself was getting involved too deeply with Jack, Dru told her to just enjoy it, even if it was a rebound relationship.
Later, Dru tried to call Neil at work. Carmen picked up the phone in the conference room and was curt to Dru before hanging up on her. Carmen then called the D.A. and asked if there was a way to speed up Dru's court case, because she felt threatened.
Meanwhile, Dru tried to reassure Lily, Devon, and Daniel that she'd be fine. When Neil found out about the phone call, he warned his entire family to steer clear of Carmen in case anything they did made matters worse. Later, Neil saw Carmen at work again. In front of other employees, he told her that she needed to leave his wife alone, and if she had further problems with Dru, she should go to him instead of running to the police to make groundless accusations against his wife.
Jack had a meeting with the "public" CEO of House of Kim. Jack warned him to be very careful around Victor, who Jack thought was fishing for information. He said the two men should have a friendly relationship, however, because it was a way for Jack to get information about Victor. Later, Jack saw Carmen crying. He let her talk about her fears about Dru, then, as he left, he mistakenly picked up Carmen's cell phone instead of his own from the table.
Sharon had gone into Newman with Noah, and Jack ran into them. As he helped Noah with a model car, his phone rang. It was only after he answered it and got a message for Carmen that Dru's court date had been moved up that Jack realized he had the wrong phone. Meanwhile, Carmen intercepted a text message from House of Kim to Jack. The message raised Carmen's suspicions about the extent of Jack's involvement with the outside cosmetics company that had purchased Jabot.
