Viki found Jessica's papers on dissociative identity disorder (DID); however, instead of being forthright about her problem, Jessica explained it as research for a column. Jessica did get some helpful information from her mom about Viki's experience with DID. Viki informed Jessica that strength was a major key in suppressing the alters, and in order to overcome the disease, she needed to deal with and face not only her alters, but also the cause for her alters.
John scolded Natalie for her reckless behavior and nearly getting herself killed, and Natalie relished John saying that he couldn't lose another person he loved. Michael, however, took her down from cloud nine by pointing out his avid support for John and Evangeline's coupling. Michael said that John would have said the same thing to Evangeline had it been her in Natalie's place. After tracing the serial numbers on the arrow shot at Natalie, John learned Hayes Barber had purchased the crossbow. Hayes was at the Palace with Natalie, having dinner.
Kevin and Kelly were also enjoying a dinner at the Palace. They met Adriana there. While talking about Duke's mysterious disappearance, Adriana received a call from Duke. Asa was holding him in Argentina after following Renee.
David caught a glimpse of Spencer, and after prodding Kelly and Kevin for information, he learned that Spencer was staying at the Palace and broke into his room to snoop. Dr. Truman met Evangeline when she bumped into him with some hot coffee. After a bit of conversation, he turned on the charm; however, she mentioned her boyfriend, John, and took her leave.
John, meanwhile, acquired a search warrant for Hayes's home and made his way to the Palace to arrest him. After searching his car, the police found some very incriminating evidence including a gas can, a saw, bullets the same caliber as those used to shoot Julie's tire, and arrows. Hayes explained it all as items he used to help promote the book. Before John got the chance to further question him, Hayes's lawyer showed up, and Hayes was released into his lawyer's custody.
After the cops cleared out of the Palace, Marcie expressed a bit of jealousy over the concern Michael had shown for Natalie and her injury. Michael calmed Marcie's jealousy but also mentioned how he would not be able to stand it if anything had actually happened to her. Evangeline returned to the station to talk with John and walked in on John once again telling Natalie that he did not want her to pull another stunt like the one she had just pulled.
Asa continued to hold Duke against his will in Argentina. When Duke realized he was not getting out anytime soon, he told his grandfather they should work together instead butting heads. Asa felt that Duke was only acting nice in order to find out about his secret business deal. Meanwhile, Adriana had hopped on a plane to Argentina, where she promptly sneaked into Asa's fancy dwelling. She and Duke happily reunited, while Asa welcomed a mysterious visitor into his quarters. "Well, compadre," he said, "I bet you didn't think you'd ever see me again."
Back in Llanview, Jessica stared into the mirror and engaged in a verbal spar with Tess. Jessica said that she finally knew a little something about Tess. When her alter taunted her, Jessica responded by saying, "I know you're a whore." She asked Tess how she could hurt Antonio by sleeping with all those strange men. She also informed her alter that she had locked her in the bedroom. At that moment, Lois the maid arrived, and Tess asked her to unlock the door. Tess thought she'd gotten one up on Jessica, but Jessica fought to emerge and took off for Antonio's.
Antonio had just met with Rex, who confirmed his suspicions that R.J. was short on cash. After Rex left, Jessica arrived and fell into Antonio's arms. Antonio mentioned his conversation with Todd, during which Manning had said that Jessica blamed Antonio for her emotional problems. Jessica was confused but realized Tess had to have been in control at the time. She refuted Todd's words then offered to help Antonio in his quest to take down R.J.
Jessica called the bank to use her status as the former Mrs. Tico Santi to get information on some dealings between R.J. and Tico. Antonio was impressed that Jessica wanted to help him, and he presented her with the engagement ring that had been hidden in his bookshelf since they had broken up. He put it around her neck, as Tess appeared inside Jessica's head to taunt the quality of the stone.
Marcie took out her frustrations over the Killing Club murders by yelling at Bo. They made up, and he drove her to the coffee shop, where Rex had just made a strong first impression on Ginger. When he'd caught Llanview's newcomer reading the tacky headlines about Jen in the Sun, he had called her and the other spectators on their thirst for gossip and stormed out. He returned to apologize to Ginger but instead ran into Marcie. He broke down, telling Marcie that he was unable to take Jen's number off his speed dial, even though Lindsay had closed Jen's cell phone account.
Spencer returned to his hotel room and found a drunk David asleep in a chair. The two of them were not too excited to see each other, particularly David, who reminded Spencer that he was supposed to stay away from Llanview. Spencer in turn reminded David of the time David had spent in a "Moroccan prison camp" and suggested that Vickers do what he was told if he knew what was good for him.
David pushed Spencer up against the wall, but his threats were making no impression. Spencer asked him to leave and got ready for his lecture at the hospital. At the hospital, Michael was star-struck by Dr. Truman, but Paige shot down his enthusiasm. Spencer laid it on thick in front of Paige, who obviously shared a past connection with the good doctor.
Evangeline wanted details on Natalie's almost-murder from John; he thanked her for finding the marked pages in the book that had led to Natalie's whereabouts. John requested a warrant on Hayes. Evangeline headed to the hospital for a deposition.
Marcie filled Ron in on Hayes being a suspect in the Killing Club murders. After he left to find her yearbook, Hayes showed up and creeped Marcie out. He couldn't believe that he had made her into something, and she thought he was the murderer. He insisted that he had only had props in his car, not the real weapons. John arrived to question Hayes, but he refused to talk without his lawyer present.
By the time Hayes stormed out, Marcie had decided that he was not the killer after all. He was too obvious, and something he had said about her past being the road map had convinced her that it was someone else, most likely from the past. Ron pulled her yearbook out so that she could begin to get pictures and information for John. He thought a reunion of the old club was due.
Michael looked at Natalie's gash, and she refused to heed his advice. She still planned on going after John, even if Michael thought his brother would break her heart. Besides, he liked John and Evangeline together because she was good for him. Natalie tried to pry John's secret out of Michael, to no avail. She insisted that John had said he loved her, though Michael tried to point out the difference between what she thought he meant and his loving someone like his brother or chocolate ice cream. Evangeline heard Natalie talk about John loving her.
Adriana arrived in Argentina, much to Duke's chagrin. He revealed that Asa was involved in some kind of big deal that he needed to find out about, so Duke had followed him. He warned her that she was not safe. In the meantime, Asa met with his old foe, Carlo Hesser. Carlo had been following Llanview happenings, he said, and especially missed Renee. That irked Asa, but he continued with his proposition.
Asa was willing to forget about the 30 million dollars of his money that Carlo had if Carlo would kill Blair. An eavesdropping Adriana and Duke made a noise as Carlo stated that he'd consider the offer. By the time the men checked, there was a guard on the floor, punched by Duke. The young pair had made a getaway, but Carlo wanted them found.
Kelly wanted to back Dr. Truman. She and Kevin worried about where Duke could be. They almost had a moment, but Bo, concerned, interrupted them to report that Renee was missing too. They realized that their missing loved ones were probably with Asa.
Riley had some meager belongings packed and was ready to sneak out, but Nora caught him. She persuaded him not to go on the run with drug charges hanging over his head but instead, to enter a rehab. They both needed to look toward the future, and they both needed to help Matthew get over the events of the recent past. He was Matthew's hero, and she wanted him to stay that way. She gave him a tape that included shots of Jen. Nora called Bo and asked him to take Matthew home.
Back at the station, Natalie asked John out to shoot some pool. He rudely told her no. An angry Evangeline arrived to talk to John. He wanted to wait, but she was not about to. She was upset that he couldn't tell her he loved her, but he had told Natalie.
Michael found Marcie at Ron's place. Looking at the yearbook, he wondered if it was an old club member who was the murderer. Meanwhile, the black-gloved killer circled her picture in a copy of the very same yearbook.
While having dinner at the Palace, David warned Spencer to leave town, but Dr. Truman informed David that he intended to stay in Llanview for an extended period of time. After a brief encounter with Todd in which David denied knowing Spencer other than just running into him, David returned upstairs to witness Blair thanking Spencer again for saving her son's life. Spencer was again not very happy to see David and again insisted that he would not be leaving Llanview anytime soon.
Todd then ran into Antonio after his meeting with an old business contact of R.J.'s and gave him an ultimatum. He could either help Antonio ruin R.J., or Antonio would pull some strings to get him busted for his shady business deals. Todd and Antonio once again had a heated exchange. Antonio threatened Todd to stop writing about him in his paper, and Todd informed Antonio that he thought Antonio was bad for Jessica and wanted him to stay away from her. Antonio refused and left Todd at the Palace.
Bo and Nora were having a talk of their own with Matthew. Nora explained to Matthew why he had to stay at his aunt Viki's, explaining that the media were swarming the house, and she was in no condition to take care of him, let alone herself. Nora still blamed Bo for all of the chaos surrounding Daniel's arrest. After their talk, Bo returned to the station and found Paige in his office, waiting for him after she'd had a confrontation with Spencer. She told Bo how much she loved him and that she thought he was the one for her, yet she omitted any information about Spencer.
Evangeline confronted John about their relationship while a curious Natalie tried to figure out why Evangeline had to have a private discussion with John. Evangeline was upset over what he had said to Natalie in the woods and had realized that he was not to the point in the relationship that she wanted or needed him to be. John told her he really did not want the relationship to end, but a frustrated Evangeline insisted that she could no longer tell herself that John really did love her but just couldn't say it. She knew that he could not lover her the way she wanted to be loved.
John reassured Evangeline that he did not love Natalie, but she still wanted to end it. John realized that no matter how hard he tried, he could fall in love again and that he had lost Evangeline. As she left, John informed Natalie that he was not taking any more calls for the day, giving Natalie some insight into what had happened between him and Evangeline.
Jessica asked her doctor to hypnotize her in order to draw out Tess, in an attempt to find out what had caused her personalities to "split." Her doctor initially declined to hypnotize her, pointing out the dangers involved with such a drastic measure. Jessica insisted that she had done her homework about DID and that hypnotism had worked for her mother, so she believed it would help her. After some convincing, her doctor agreed to hypnotize her and got to meet Tess. He then began asking her questions including what caused her to emerge.
Hard at work at Buchanan Enterprises, Kelly and Kevin stopped for a moment to reminisce about their time in Texas. As they drew close out of laughter and fond memories, Spencer showed up for his "date" with Kelly. Kevin, who hadn't realized the doctor and Kelly were going to discuss business over dinner, attempted to hide his sudden jealousy.
After Kelly's departure, Viki showed up to check on Kevin. She noted Kevin's sarcasm when he said that Kelly had gone to dinner with "Super Doc" and asked her son if he was jealous. He admitted that he might be a little jealous, and Viki said that she knew Kevin and Kelly were falling in love again. He reminded her of Kelly's crimes, but Viki insisted he had not been blameless in their breakup, having cheated on Kelly with Blair. Kevin told Viki he was not in the mood for a lecture on being a noble person. She left but not before reminding him that she thought he and Kelly made a cute couple.
At the Palace, Blair and Todd reflected on the magical night they had just shared. The talk turned more serious when Blair noticed the negative headline about Antonio that Todd had printed in the Sun. Viki showed up just in time to hear Todd blame Antonio for "the mess" Jessica was in. Viki demanded to know what her brother meant, and Todd stonewalled in order to prevent her any undue stress. Viki revealed that she was feeling better but still wasn't topnotch then left to check on Kevin at the office.
Todd proposed that he and Blair stay in their suite one more night, if Ginger would continue to watch the kids. Blair was giddy with pleasure. As Todd stepped out of the dining room to phone Ginger, David raced in and asked Blair what she had meant by hugging Spencer Truman. Blair was annoyed that David was seemingly following her but explained that she had merely been grateful that the doctor had saved Jack's life. She wanted to know how David even knew Spencer, but before he could answer, Spencer and Kelly showed up for dinner.
Kelly introduced Spencer to David, but Blair made it clear that David and Spencer knew each other. The Cramer cousins wanted to know what the connection was, but the men were evasive.
Todd got Ginger on the phone, and she apologetically said that she had just made plans to meet her friend Tess at Xanadu. Todd told Blair there was an emergency at the paper and raced out of the Palace. Blair decided to stop by and check on Viki. When Kelly left Spencer alone at the table for a moment, David took her seat and demanded to know why Truman had been hugging Blair in her bathrobe. Spencer maintained that his actions were none of David's business. "Is that any way to treat your baby brother?" David asked.
Dr. Jamison was stunned by the strength of Tess's personality, especially when she tried to seduce him. He rejected her and asked how long she had lived inside Jessica. Tess said that she'd been around long enough to be sick of Jessica's whining. When the doctor asked if there had been a trauma that had caused Tess to emerge, Tess said, "You bet your ass there was." She decided to leave the office, but Dr. Jamison reminded her that Jessica was under hypnosis, and Tess didn't have control; he said that as soon as he clapped his hands, Jessica would reemerge.
When Dr. Jamison clapped, Tess pretended to be Jessica and acted concerned about her condition. The doctor sent her home to get some rest, but Tess skipped off to Xanadu, where Todd was waiting for her. Tess connected with Ginger, who stepped outside to take a phone call; in Ginger's absence, Todd slid up next to Tess and said, "Who are you, and what have done to my niece?"
A pregnant Margaret Cochran was shown relaxing in her rocking chair with a glass of milk and a baby book. She cooed to her unborn child, telling him that he would look just like his daddy. She said that his daddy was very strong ... "but mommy is stronger." With a deadly look on her face, Margaret got out of her rocker to place a phone call.
Evangeline was in the park, crying over her breakup with John, when Michael stumbled upon her while out for a jog. He comforted her and confirmed that John was an idiot. Evangeline insisted that Natalie wasn't the cause of the breakup, but merely a symptom. Michael didn't want to leave Evangeline alone in the park, but she demanded that he do so. She reflected on her ex-boyfriend as a musical montage of John and Evangeline appeared on the screen.
Back at the station, John was dismissive with Natalie. He sat alone in his office, also reflecting on the breakup with Evangeline, when Michael barged in and demanded to know what his brother's problem was. Michael called John on his ridiculous treatment of Evangeline and reminded his brother that when a woman a man had been sleeping with for a year asked if the man loved her, "the answer is always yes." John raised his voice in frustration, sick of Michael's meddling.
Back at Roxanne's hotel, Natalie told Roxy that John and Evangeline had broken up. Roxy gave Natalie a key to John's room and told her to wait for him beneath the sheets. As John entered the lobby, Roxy scurried off. A somber John asked Natalie if she had a minute. "Of course," she said. When he asked if they could have the discussion in his room, a look of eager anticipation crossed Natalie's face.
