Lizzie, that shy little girl who killed her mother's abusive boyfriend and beat cancer, really took to her Spaulding life and became the poor little rich girl for awhile. Like Grandpa Alan, she really didn't have close relationships.

Jonathan should have tried to lie low during his visit, instead of skulking around the cemetery or church. But Jonathan being Jonathan, and Reva's son to boot, he had to fly in the face of danger and was found out by a not-so-blind Bill Lewis.

The Coopers couldn't even have a family poker game without fighting. Now, sure, every family quarrels over things, but not quite like this. Springfield's most congenial family has Aunt Harley sleeping with Marina's fiancé.

When Cassie decided to punish Alan by changing the DNA results for Beth's child (and taking away his child, as he did with Tammy), everyone knew that eventually Alan would learn the truth, and that there would be hell to pay.

If Beth doesn't give Alan his daughter to mold, spoil, and smother with his obsessive kind of love, Sarah becomes even more important. Emma is still close by, and Alan can finally see a shot at having her all to himself with Olivia on her deathbed.

Jeffrey is a character cast adrift in Springfield. Until the whole Olivia/Jeffrey back story in San Cristobel , he had no ties to Springfield. Sure, he had flings with most of the eligible women in town, but he had no family.

Saying goodbye is never easy, not even in daytime, and last week was no exception. While Gus's death was no surprise, it was painful to watch how reality and Springfield blend on-screen.

With Gus's death and the subsequent fallout, and Dinah's takeover of all things Spaulding, there are plenty of times when the dialogue should be softer. Secrets are shared, hearts are in anguish, and you don't want to have dialogue spoken too loudly.

Alan has shown himself to be less than honorable and worthy of having his family stand by him. He's destroyed everyone in his family at one time or another, so he should have a little time-out to rethink the way his life has gone thus far.

It seems that many Springfield residents have been acting strange lately. Rick has tried to buy Peyton from Alan to keep him out of her life...which makes Beth want to choose a powerless and broke Alan over her oldest friend? Lillian should have her committed.

Just when you thought that Harley would be able to get her head back on straight after throwing Cyrus out, they slept together again last week. The whole situation is pretty awful, making Harley a weak woman in need of a man who will only break her heart.

Alan and Olivia have always been pretty powerful people, not always caring about anyone else's feelings, but it's always interesting to see how a person reacts to what life throws at them. Alan seems to have softened some, which is a welcomed change.

Rafe's spiral out of control was well done. He had been through so much in his short time in Springfield; his troubled youth, finding his father, moving, falling in love, losing a baby, then losing Gus, who could be a dirty cop.

With Dinah and Bill's takeover of all things Spaulding, fans are rooting for them to find their footing as a real family. Without the trappings of success, Alan seems to be taking a less desperate (and illegal) approach with keeping his family together.

Bill grew up in Springfield; we all witnessed that. He's had his ups and downs, but he's becoming as out of control as Dinah. A little happiness would be appreciated, because his life is starting to be a bit of a downer.

There really aren't that many women left for Josh, if he and Cassie break up. Perhaps if the writers would stop having the characters switch partners so often, they could actually have some happy couples in town for awhile.

Beth wants Lizzie to be happy, and Dinah wants Bill to be happy. Both were girls who were outsiders when they first appeared in Springfield, and they want to protect their loved ones.

For once in her life, Reva made the right choice. Jeffrey is a partner that is as strong as she is and can stand up to her crazy antics like Josh never could.

Families are an interesting dynamic to watch. There are families that are tied by biology, and then there are families that are chosen. Both showed a wide range of emotional ties last week.

Not only has Bill hurt Lizzie, but last week he also lashed out at Dinah, whose own fragile emotional make-up might not be able to survive. Since she was a child, Dinah has searched for love and stability, but she also has a feisty streak when she's cornered.

They say blood is thicker than water, but it seems that isn't true in Springfield! While the town's families have certainly had their share of troubles, last week things took a deliberately ugly turn for many of them.

Alan used to be the meanest man in Springfield. He's run off every member of his family, shot his son, done terrible, despicable things to most of the town...and now he's having warm, fuzzy conversations with his dead son Gus. Huh?

Reva and Jeffrey's on-again, off-again wedding finally happened, with some laughs, and perhaps a bit too much odd-ball humor. The sad state of the Springfield families made the day less memorable.

Even though Bill and Lizzie have been getting plenty of face time, he is still bound and determined to push both Lizzie and Dinah away when he really needs them. Dinah and Bill are so vulnerable, and they really need one another.

Bill and Lizzie need a serious time-out. Constantly switching sides and fighting with each other is starting to get old. Bill and Lizzie have great chemistry, and they need to have some happiness to keep fans clamoring for more.

As much as Natalia lacks familial ties in Springfield, it is nice to see the Coopers sort of adopt the woman who ruined Harley's marriage and caused her to fall for Marina's fiancé and then leave town.

Bill and Lizzie have grown up in Springfield, and are both working to overcome some interesting challenges. Both children of high-powered, big-money families, they want to make it on their own, but want to have better relationships than their parents had.

Once again, Dinah has made some impulsive moves that will undoubtedly cost her in the end. She wants so desperately to fit in and find acceptance, but the problem is that she goes about it all the wrong way.

Grady's moves always seem to be pretty desperate. Even in this bad economy, he only sees illegal ways to make a million or two. Granted, the stock market isn't the safe bet that it used to be, but a good, honest day's work might do him some good.

It seems that Josh needs a job and a little romance. Reva is getting into the swing of things to get the ball rolling, but his choices are getting slimmer, unless he reconciles with an ex.

Not that Alan is full of warmth and fuzziness, but to side with a man who kidnapped his beloved granddaughter over the man she loves is pretty low, even for him.

Alan's back to his old tricks, trying to frame a comatose Bill for Lizzie's kidnapping. Grady has to have rocks in his head for trusting the man who has already shown he can't be trusted for any reason, but will Cyrus be able to bail his brother out of this one?

Reva and Jeffrey are celebrating their first Thanksgiving as a married couple, with a baby on board! However, Reva's cancer threatens both mother and child. They have some difficult decisions to make, without the usual sounding boards in Reva's life.

After weeks of boring us to tears, Bill has finally opened his eyes. Once he learns that sister Dinah's thug Grady was behind Lizzie's kidnapping, and that her grandfather Alan framed him, will he be all that thankful about waking up to see his family?

The scene has been set. Alan and Grady are framing Bill for Lizzie's kidnapping; even his own parents doubt him. So on a painful day in Lizzie's life, one where she celebrates the birth of her wayward daughter, Bill opens his eyes...to a future behind bars?

Like Jonathan, Shayne has returned to Springfield as a very angry man. It's too soon to tell where the story is going, but hopefully Shayne will have a softer side; his anger is hard to bear. If he's paired with Dinah, perhaps they'll be able to heal each other.
