Teddi Giggy is a Soap Central Two Scoops columnist for The Young and the Restless and a former One Life to Live recapper. She has been a soap fan since the early 70s and is currently a devoted fan of the four remaining network soaps, General Hospital, Days of Our Lives, The Young and the Restless, and The Bold and the Beautiful. She appreciates the different writing styles for each soap and enjoys having her favorite -- and not-so-favorite -- characters on each show. This is her sixth time predicting Daytime Emmy winners.

With such red-hot stories as the cabin explosion that blasted Adam into smithereens and the fiery former "Red" hopping into the sack with her husband's brother, as well as the complex Christian/Sully identity swap, The Young and the Restless has been bringing the drama all year long. Although I appreciate Days of our Lives' second submission clip for the Best Drama award, I am looking at the soap that was fortunate to have the brilliance of Justin Hartley's Adam for a while. I am proud to say I watch all four remaining network soaps, and my pick for Best Drama is The Young and the Restless.
Who will win: The Young and the Restless
I loved, loved, loved the on-screen chemistry between Kate Mansi's Abby Deveraux and Billy Flynn's Chad DiMera, and I believed they could very well have been soap's next supercouple. Okay, I know I am repeating myself, because I said the same thing for Kate Mansi's nomination, but it's true. Those two made me a believer in Chad and Abby's romance, and I went merrily along on their ride. Billy's Chad was every bit the hero, as he did everything he could to keep Abigail safe and sane. However, Mr. Flynn submitted scenes with Stefano (we miss you, Joseph Mascolo), which were touching and brilliant. I would also like to pick Peter Bergman as Jack Abbott on The Young and the Restless. Can I pick two? I know I can't, so Billy Flynn is my pick, and a special shout-out to the other leading men, Scott Clifton (Liam Spencer, The Bold and the Beautiful), Vincent Irizarry (Deimos Kiriakis, Days of our Lives), and Kristoff St. John (Neil Winters, The Young and the Restless). They were all truly outstanding last year, and they all deserve the award.
Who will win: Billy Flynn (Chad DiMera, Days of our Lives)
This was a difficult category, because all of our leading ladies are fabulous. I came close to changing my mind and picking Gina Tognoni (Phyllis Summers, The Young and the Restless). However, I remembered when I originally watched the last part of Nancy Lee Grahn's submission on General Hospital, I honestly thought that she should submit it and then win off of her performance in it. I literally got goosebumps from that scene. Heather Tom (Katie Logan, The Bold and the Beautiful), Jess Walton (Jill Abbott, The Young and the Restless), and Laura Wright (Carly Corinthos, General Hospital) are all powerhouses and gave terrific performances, but my pick is for Alexis' meltdown, thanks to Julian, on General Hospital.
Who will win: Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis, General Hospital)
I was so thrilled to hear that John Aniston (Victor Kiriakis, Days of our Lives) was finally nominated. It is well overdue. However, I can't get past Steve Burton's powerful performance as Dylan McAvoy on The Young and the Restless when he learned the sad truth about Sully actually being Christian. Dylan was devastated to learn that his son was not really his son, and his emotions showed through on our screens. Mr. Burton was no Jason Morgan, as Dylan lashed out at Sharon for keeping the secret and cried over the loss of his son. If John Aniston wins, though, I won't be disappointed. And Chad Duell (Michael Corinthos, General Hospital), Jeffrey Vincent Parise (Carlos and Joe Rivera, General Hospital), and James Reynolds (Abe Carver, Days of our Lives) also gave remarkable performances. It's nice to know we have such talented men in our soap world.
Who will win: Steve Burton (Dylan McAvoy, The Young and the Restless)

However, Ms. Mansi was ready to move on to bigger and better things, and her fans truly miss her. But last year, when Abby teetered on the brink of insanity, thanks to Ben, her scenes were electrifying -- and scorching hot! Thanks to Kate Mansi's remarkable acting, Abigail had me on the edge of my seat, wanting to tune in each and every day. Don't get me wrong -- I always enjoy having Stacy Haiduk's Patty Williams from The Young and the Restless return to town, because her scenes with her brother Paul, portrayed by Doug Davidson, tug at my heart, and I admired the work done by Anna Maria Horsford (Vivienne Avant, The Bold and the Beautiful), Finola Hughes (Anna Devane, General Hospital), and Kelly Sullivan (Sage Warner, The Young and the Restless) throughout the year. However, my pick has to go to Kate Mansi.
Who will win: Kate Mansi (Abigail Deveraux, Days of our Lives)
From an actor's perspective, the best thing that could have happened to the character of Morgan Corinthos was to have bipolar disorder like his father, Sonny. Since Morgan was diagnosed, Bryan was knocking it out of the ballpark with every performance. While James Lastovic (Joey Johnson, Days of our Lives), Tequan Richmond (T.J. Ashford, General Hospital), Anthony Turpel (R.J. Forrester, The Bold and the Beautiful), and especially Pierson Fodé (Thomas Forrester, The Bold and the Beautiful) offered us some shining moments, Bryan Craig was fabulous as Morgan, and he is truly missed. Since his body was never recovered, General Hospital fans can only hope that one day, Morgan will resurface in Port Charles, where we would all welcome him back with open arms.
Who will win: Bryan Craig (Morgan Corinthos, General Hospital)
I am going to buck the trend of the older actresses winning in this category by picking Alyvia Alyn Lind, whose acting in all types of TV shows this year has been on fire. Alyvia always plays Faith in such a convincing way, we can easily believe she is the daughter of Nick and Sharon and the granddaughter of Victor Newman. This is not an easy category, because I thought all of other lovely women, Lexi Ainsworth (Kristina Davis, General Hospital), Reign Edwards (Nicole Avant, The Bold and the Beautiful), Hunter King (Summer Newman, The Young and the Restless), and Chloe Lanier (Nelle Hayes, General Hospital), were truly outstanding. But my pick is for the darling young lady whose face has been popping up everywhere on our televisions all year long, Alyvia Alyn Lind.
Who will win: Alyvia Alyn Lind (Faith Newman, The Young and the Restless)
This was an easy category for me because there is no way I would choose anyone other than Lieutenant Uhura from Star Trek. Plus, Nichelle Nichols really was terrific as Neil Winters' long lost mother. While I give kudos to Tobin Bell (Yo Ling, Days of our Lives), and Don Harvey (Tom Baker, General Hospital), and I truly appreciated the humor delivered by Monica Horan (Kieran Cannistra, The Bold and the Beautiful) and Jim O'Heir (Matt Cannistra, The Bold and the Beautiful), my pick is for Lucinda Winters played by Nichelle Nichols. Live long and prosper. (I know Spock said that, but it still works.)
