OUTSTANDING DRAMA SERIES
So, my official prediction? All My Children. Trust me, I'm just as shocked as anyone that I picked it. I mean, ouch, a lot of last year wasn't pretty in Pine Valley, but I think they selected just the right episode to submit for consideration. I mean, it worked -- it was picked -- it made it to the final four! Therefore, I won't be THAT shocked if this wild card ends up being part of the winning hand come Emmy night.
OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTOR
James Scott
E.J. DiMera
Nepotism notwithstanding, I'm predicting James Scott will nab Lead Actor. Anyone who watched DAYS last year knows he deserved the nomination. And I'm convinced he also deserves the trophy. He simply exuded "leading man" throughout '09 and the material he submitted managed capture exactly what makes E.J. a unique character that's hard to take your eyes off. Good luck, James -- your faithful DAYS Two Scoopers are rooting for you!
OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTRESS
Crystal Chappell
Olivia Spencer
After much deliberation, I painfully narrowed down my choice to one daytime diva -- Crystal Chappell. The lady is simply the Swiss army knife of "Soap Land," she can do anything. More so, Crystal's portrayal of Olivia remained as honest as it was powerful despite the hype revolving around "Otalia." At the end of the day, it was a classic soap love story, which Crystal pulled off beautifully.
OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTOR
Brian Kerwin
Charlie Banks
I enjoy watching and respect all the actors in this category, but I'd love to see Brian Kerwin snag the gold. Not only is he a Rosanne alum, but, more importantly, his submission was a good one. Grief scenes can be tricky come award time -- too much crying and carrying on can be a turn-off, while not enough can be worrisome. But I think Brian pulled it off wonderfully. Well, here's to hoping, at least!
OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTRESS

This category reminds me of that age-old hypothetical question -- if so-and-so and so-and-so were dangling from a cliff, and you could only save one, who would you save? Hmm! All five women are remarkable. True, I had a small problem being impartial since Arianne Zucker has been my gal since the late '90s. Yet it's not that off-base to say she basically carried the "Baby-Swap" storyline on DAYS for most of 2009. But, then again, it all comes down to one submission -- that's all. Just one. I repeat, "Hmm!"
So, in the end I narrowed it down to Ari and Bree Williamson. I will not be the slightest bit shocked if Bree snags the award, but, I'd not only like to see Ari win, but I think she has what it takes to pull it off. Granted, her submission was a bit heavy on the sobbing side, but I think there was enough range to showcase her unlimited talent. So, you go, Ms. Thang -- see you in the winners' circle!
OUTSTANDING YOUNGER ACTOR

I would love to see Dylan Patton walk off with this award. Heck, I even picked him as "Best Recast" during the Third Annual Golden Doughnut Awards. And he did leave DAYS, and one leaving one's show then receiving a nomination normally seems to clinch a win. However, Drew Garrett also left GH. He's also a terrific actor. And he's officially my selection to win this award.
OUTSTANDING YOUNGER ACTRESS

Melanie Layton
I'd be thrilled if either of my DAYS' gals won. Then again, Shelley and Molly are already winners in my book. However, Molly's nomination piqued my interest the most out of all the nominees. Her submission was a bit different than the rest of her peers. It wasn't grandiose -- in fact, it was rather simple, yet perfectly captured the special something-something Molly brings to the character of Melanie. On the whole, Molly has an acting style that seems to be a "love it or hate it" type of thing. Personally, I love it. And obviously enough members of the nomination committee did too. Therefore, I think she might go all the way.
OUTSTANDING WRITING IN A DRAMA SERIES
The Bold and the Beautiful
I've chosen One Life to Live for the past two years and lost both times. Sadly, I didn't have the chance to make that a losing three-peat, since it wasn't nominated this year. Then again, maybe the fact it wasn't nominated already clinches my losing streak. Nevertheless, we're here to predict winners and my prediction is The Bold and the Beautiful.
