Any time a Days of our Lives character is pronounced dead, there's always a chance the finality will be reversed and he or she will pop up from the grave. Numerous characters have returned from heaven (and hell) over the years, and beloved former Salemite Jack Deveraux just might be the next.
Several set-side sources have revealed to Daytime Confidential that Matthew Ashford has reprised his role as Jennifer's husband, who fell down an elevator shaft back in 2012 while trying to save his daughter, Abigail.
There's no guarantee that Jack will actually be alive when he makes his Salem return, however. As fans of the NBC soap may recall, Jack has returned in spiritual form a couple of times since his death, the most recent being when his son J.J. (Casey Moss) was contemplating suicide. He also returned via visions when Abigail was recently locked in a mental institution and when Jennifer was battling a pill addiction in 2016.
Ashford isn't particularly active on social media, so there aren't many clues to be found on his accounts regarding his status with DAYS. But funny enough, his last Instagram post (from May 2017) is a picture of him with Kate Mansi, who recently reprised the role of Jack's daughter, Abigail, after Marci Miller decided to leave the role she took on in 2016.
Ashford joined DAYS in 1987 and has been playing the character on-again, off-again since then. His other soap credits include General Hospital's Tom Hardy, One Life to Live's Drew Ralston, and The Bay's Steve Jensen.
