There may be a slew of former Days of our Lives characters coming back to Salem for the show's 50th anniversary episode (including Peter Reckell's Bo and Stephen Nichols' Patch), but the show's current characters seem to be dropping like flies. Not only will Melissa Archer's Serena and Freddie Smith's Sonny soon be leaving the canvas, it's rumored that Molly Burnett's Melanie Jonas is on her way out, as well.
Burnett, who originated the character of Melanie in 2008 and played the feisty redhead until choosing to exit the show in 2012, returned to DAYS in November of last year in a story that had Melanie connecting romantically with Brady [Eric Martsolf] -- which didn't sit well with Brady's ex, Theresa [Jen Lilley]. The two women have butted heads ever since, but their feuding hasn't stopped Melanie from digging into the mystery surrounding Theresa's odd behavior and her fling with bad boy Clint [Lucas Kerr]. Will Melanie uncover the truth regarding her nemesis' stolen embryo before she leaves the canvas?
The actress reportedly taped her final scenes in December, meaning that whatever storylines she's been involved in will most likely wrap around May. So it looks like fans will have to wait until then to find out!
