The Bold and the Beautiful has never won more than one acting award in a single Emmy night. In fact, the show has won just two acting award in its entire history; the first in 1997 when Ian Buchanan won the Supporting Actor category for his work as James Warwick and last year's win by Susan Flannery (Stephanie) in the Lead Actress category. So the show's four acting nominations this year definitely came as good news.

With no nominations in the All My Children and As The World Turns dominated Supporting Actor and Supporting Actress categories, B&B scored one nomination in the Lead Actor, Lead Actress, Younger Actor and Younger Actress fields. Though Flannery and John McCook (Eric), a nominee in the Lead Actor category, would eventually be denied Emmy gold, both of the Younger performers collected their first Emmy trophies.

Adrienne Frantz

Justin Torkildsen (Rick) was ecstatic at the mention of his name as the Younger Actor winner. This was Torkildsen's first nomination. Torkildsen joined the cast after Jacob Young left to take a role on General Hospital.

Torkildsen's on-screen partner, Adrienne Frantz (Amber), was likewise overjoyed by her Emmy win. Her arms flapping as feverishly as a hummingbird, Frantz squealed that her victory made her feel "great." Later, Frantz revealed that she knew she was going to win because of a mishap on the way to the ceremony - her limousine was involved in an accident. In Emmy ceremonies held on May 12th, The Bold and the Beautiful was shut out in each of its two technical Emmy nominations. Those nominations included the Technical Direction/Electronic Camera/Video Control and Art Direction/Set Decoration/Scenic Design categories.

There wasn't too much behind-the-scenes buzz about The Bold and the Beautiful mainly because B&B execs have been a tight lock on the information coming out of the show. Spoilers have been reduced to a bare minimum and advance sneak peeks have all but been discontinued.

However, the dismissal of Sarah Buxton (Morgan) was discussed more than once. According to some of the chatter, Buxton is reportedly up for a part on another show. Talk of Buxton joining One Life to Live, however, appears way off the mark.

Also discussed was the show's decision to "up the hunk factor," as one reported called it, with the addition of Paulo Benedeti to the cast. "Sean Kanan and Paulo Benedeti? Oh my goodness!"
