The Young and the Restless fans weren't the only ones thrilled to learn their favorite soap would remain on the air for at least another four years when the soap was renewed through the 2027-2028 season.
Y&R stars are also overjoyed and grateful, with Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) and Michelle Stafford (Phyllis Summers) taking to social media to express their happiness for four more years.
"We've been renewed for four years," Braeden happily said in a video he shot outside the CBS studios. "I've been coming to this studio for 44 years now, and now we have another four years added to it. How wonderful is that? And that's thanks to you, all of you. To our loyal fans all over the world. I never take any of this for granted."
Braeden acknowledged the changing media landscape leading to a lot of uncertainty, but now we know one media giant, Y&R, isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
"I am very happy to hear about the renewal, I really am. In today's world, you can't take anything for granted. And in the changing world of media, seemingly nothing is permanent. But we are here another four years. Thank you for your loyalty," Braeden said.
Stafford also expressed her happiness at being able to still bring Phyllis Summers to life. She began playing the iconic character in 1994, left the show twice, and returned in 2019 after a stint as Nina Reeves on General Hospital. She also couldn't be more thankful that new life has been breathed into daytime's highest-rated soap.
"I am so excited that Y&R got picked up for four more years by Sony. That's actually unheard of. I was thinking we'd be picked up but for another year or two, but to be picked up for four more years shows such a commitment from CBS to us and such confidence in our show," Stafford said in an Instagram video. "I remember 15 years ago, people were saying to me soaps were dying and it's going to be over for you soon, and here we are, 15 years later, so I am really honored and blessed to be on the show and to be working with the great people that I work with."
She also thanked the fans for being there for the show during some difficult times over the last few years.
"Thank you to you guys, and I especially felt this during COVID, that we kind of needed each other," the actress continued. "We helped people escape during COVID, helped people escape the nightmare we were in. You guys helped us, as well, by [us] going back to work and giving us something to do that was productive, artistic, and creative. So, I want to thank you guys 'cause you guys made this happen."
"They didn't cover some stuff I hoped they would, and most of the conversation was about NF, not the SEC... and I was looking for something a little more hopeful, but happy," she said.
