Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) is recuperating following knee surgery. The actor revealed the news in a social media posting. The prolific tweeter gave no indication in the days leading up to the surgery that he'd be having the procedure done.
Braeden posted a photo of himself in a hospital gown, using a walker for added support. His left knee was heavily bandaged, but in true Braeden form, the actor rose a fist to show that he was up for the challenge.
"After knee replacement! Thinking of you all!" Braeden captioned the photo.

In a subsequent post, Braeden mused that "Graham crackers and apple sauce never tasted so good!
The Young and the Restless is about to go on holiday break, so it is unclear how much time Braeden might miss at work.
Nearly 800,000 knee replacements are performed in the United States each year. The reasons for need a knee replacement include injuries to the knee, unusual bone growth, and the most common, to relieve severe pain caused by osteoarthritis, a degenerative condition where the cartilage in the knee wears away and causes bone to rub against other bone.
Most knee replacement patients are able to walk without the need of assistance devices by the sixth week following surgery.
