Peter Bergman is in the midst of celebrating an impressive 30-year run as Jack Abbott on The Young and the Restless, and in honor of the actor and his contributions to the daytime genre, Watch! magazine is rolling out a "wow-worthy" photo shoot featuring the beloved performer.
The CBS magazine revealed a couple of teaser photos from Bergman's spread, which can be seen in its entirety in the issue set to hit newsstands on Tuesday, November 19. If the sneak peek pics are any indication of the full photo spread to come, then our hats are off to the magazine and photographer F. Scott Schafer, who have managed to capture the beloved daytime star in a "wow-worthy" way, indeed.
Bergman made his debut as The Young and the Restless' Jack Abbott on November 22, 1989, as a recast for the role's original actor Terry Lester, who had quit the show and exited in September of that same year. As Bergman recently shared in an in-depth interview with Alec Baldwin, he landed the role of Jack shortly after he'd been let go as All My Children's Cliff Warner because Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki Newman) suggested him as a recast to her husband, Edward J. Scott, who was executive producer of The Young and Restless at the time.
Bergman confesses that he initially had serious reservations about taking on the recast character, but daytime fans are glad he did, as he helped usher in a new era on Y&R as a handsome playboy and rival to well-known business mogul Victor Newman (Eric Braeden). Over the years, audiences have seen Bergman's Jack go through many ups and downs, including a battle with addiction and several high-profile romances with leading ladies like Nikki Newman and Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford, Gina Tognoni). As viewers of the show know, Jack is currently involved in yet another huge Abbott family secret surrounding his mother Dina Mergeron (Marla Adams) that is set to reverberate for quite a long time into the future.
