Camryn Grimes is pulling double duty. In addition to working as The Young and the Restless' Mariah Copeland, the actress shares that she has been filming a guest-starring role on the CBS primetime drama NCIS.
Grimes took to Instagram stories with the news, first with a photo of herself in a camouflage armed forces uniform and the tease that she was filming something new, and then with a behind-the-scenes photo of her NCIS script.
"Ask and you shall receive," the actress wrote along with the photo of her script. The caption she chose could be referring to finally giving inquiring fans the details of her new project, or it could be referring to the fact that Grimes has wanted to appear on the show and is finally getting her chance.
The 17th season of NCIS is scheduled to premiere on Tuesday, September 24. According to the script that Grimes shared, she will be appearing in the fifth episode of the season, which should air on Tuesday, October 22, if the network airs new episodes weekly.
As fans of Grimes may recall, this is not her first foray into the world of NCIS. The actress filmed a guest-starring role for NCIS: Los Angeles in 2010. At the time, she took to Facebook about the emotional experience, writing: "Just got done filming NCIS: Los Angeles, the cast and crew are awesome & just a super fun working environment. I'm exhausted though... too much crying for one day!"
Grimes joined Y&R in 1997 as Sharon's daughter, Cassie Newman. The character was killed off in 2005, but the actress returned to the show in 2014 as Cassie's twin sister, Mariah Copeland. Some of her other credits include ER, Cold Case, and The Mentalist.
UPDATE (October 1, 2019): CBS has released a detailed episode teaser for Grimes' Tuesday, October 22, episode of NCIS, which is titled Wide Awake. The actress is set to play Marine Corporal Laney Alimonte, who will be investigated by NCIS when it appears she murdered her neighbor. The case gets complicated, however, when it's revealed that the character had been undergoing insomnia treatment by a hypnotherapist when the gruesome incident occurred. Actress Karissa Vacker (ex-Emily Hudson, Days of our Lives) will also guest in the episode, as will Hope Banks, who briefly appeared on The Young and the Restless as a staff member last year.
