A new young adult series is currently being created by the minds that brought soap viewers The Bay. Gregori J. Martin and former General Hospital executive producer Wendy Riche are working on a spinoff of the digital soap called yA (a working title) that will center around twins played by former The Young and the Restless stars Bianca and Chiara D'Ambrosio (ex-Summer Newman).
The D'Ambrosio sisters are set to take on siblings Frankie and Regan Sander, who relocate from a rural area on the Central Coast to the sunny, waterfront multi-million-dollar fictional town of Bay City, California. The girls are quickly enmeshed into the cultural awakening of a sometimes-cruel new world, along with dealing with a new social environment and high school angst.
Deadline reports that the project, written by both Martin and Riche, is slated to begin principal photography next month. Martin will co-direct the ten-episode first season with LANY Entertainment partner and The Bay's Kristos Andrews, who will also guest-star on the new series that also boasts Lane Davies (ex-Mackenzie Johnson, The Bay; ex-Dr. Cameron Lewis, General Hospital; ex-Mason Capwell, Santa Barbara).
The D'Ambrosio twins are best known to daytime fans for playing three-year-old Summer on Y&R, but they've also appeared on The Closer, Freak Out, and Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn. The sisters also headlined their own reality show, A Day in the Life.
The Bay recently released its fourth season on Amazon Prime Video. The digital series has been a huge Daytime Emmy success, garnering 15 wins in the Digital Daytime Drama Category, with 36 total Emmy nominations.
