Ravi Shapur struggled to find love on The Young and the Restless, with only a short-lived, quickly fizzled romance with Ashley Abbott to show for his time in Genoa City. But his portrayer, Abhi Sinha, has had the opposite luck. He and his longtime girlfriend, Helen Kim, have such a solid relationship that they're now engaged.
The actor took to social media to share that he proposed during the couple's recent trip to Sabi Sands game reserve in South Africa.
"While at Sabi Sands we saw a beautiful bird called The Lilac Breasted Roller. Our guides... told us that the feathers of these birds are very rare. They are so rare and valuable, that often local men will use the feathers to propose to women," he wrote." While I wasn't able to obtain a Lilac Breasted Roller's feather, I did have a ring that I had been carrying close to the vest, non-stop for several weeks. And I couldn't think of a better place to propose than in Amboseli, right in front of Kilimanjaro."
Sinha describes his romantic gesture (which was photographed by his sister) as the "best decision" of his life, "because she said yes! I love you so much Helen, and cannot wait to marry you. Fiancé has a nice ring to it for sure."
Sinha made his Y&R debut as app developer Ravi in January 2017. His storyline fizzled in 2018, with the actor sharing that he had "been fortunate enough to not be killed or written off, [but] the future is uncertain." Unfortunately for his Y&R fans, he hasn't been seen on-screen since -- but it's not too late for Ravi to have a happily ever after, just like his portrayer.
