Heather Tom has taken a trip back to where it all began. The actress -- who currently plays The Bold and the Beautiful's Katie Logan -- recently returned to The Young and the Restless. But it's not as an actress. The Emmy-winning actress directed an episode of the Genoa City-set soap opera.
Tom took to Instagram with the news that she helmed a Y&R episode that is slated to hit the airwaves on Monday, July 15.
"This happened last week! So grateful for the opportunity!" she wrote along with a photo of that day's script. "Thanks especially to [CBS Daytime Executive Vice President] @angelica_mcd, [Y&R head writer] #tonymorino, @youngandrestlesscbs, @sptv and all the actors I had the pleasure to work with. Such an extraordinary amount of talented people! It was so emotional for me!"
As Soap Central previously reported, Tom joined the CBS Directing Initiative in 2018. The actress has also been directing B&B for the past three years and recently received a Daytime Emmy nomination for Best Directing Team. Additionally, her award-winning short films Serenity and Bigfoot's Love Slave have played numerous festivals across the globe, while her feature film script The Last Knight in Camelot, was recently named a 2018 PAGE Award Finalist.
As for what viewers can expect from Tom's upcoming Y&R episode, not much is known except that she worked with Mark Grossman (Adam Newman), Jason Thompson (Billy Abbott), Daniel Goddard (Cane Ashby), Christian LeBlanc (Michael Baldwin), Joshua Morrow (Nick Newman), Michelle Stafford (Phyllis Summers), Beth Maitland (Traci Abbott), Jess Walton (Jill Abbott), and Greg Rikaart (Kevin Fisher). Unfortunately for fans of strange soap situations, it appears she did not work with Amelia Heinle, who now plays Tom's former Y&R role, Victoria Newman.
