The first Rosales family member to put down roots on The Young and the Restless is leaving. Jason Canela, who portrays Arturo Rosales, has announced that he is exiting the CBS soap opera.
Canela took to Twitter with a message about his departure, writing: "When I signed my one-year contract with Y&R, I was excited because for the first time in three years living in this city, I was able to call a studio like Television City home. Add to that the incredible people I've had the pleasure of working with who I've been lucky enough to create genuine relationships with like Peter Bergman [Jack Abbott], Melissa Ordway [Abby Newman], Jordi Vilasuso [Rey Rosales], Sasha Calle [Lola Rosales], and Noemi Gonzalez [Mia Rosales]."
The actor's message begs the question as to the fate of the rest of the Rosales family, all of whom joined Y&R after Canela. His post continues, addressing the future of the Latino clan and thanking the fans who have embraced the new family.
"I want to send all my love and positive vibes to the Y&R fans who have been so welcoming from day one," he writes. "No worries: the Rosales family will still be cooking up some drama in Genoa City, so keep looking out for them and showing them all the love they deserve."
I feel blessed to have been a part of something so special! I appreciate each and every single person that makes up part of the @YandR_CBS family! Our makeup team, our crew, our security! Without them there is nothing 💯🙏🏽 The team behind the camera is what makes it all worth it pic.twitter.com/Yd5IpO923s

Canela spoke with Soap Central in February and expressed a similar sentiment about what's to come from the Rosales family in the months ahead.
"The Rosales family is a new family, and we're Latino, and we're representing this new side that hasn't been represented before," he said at the time. "So, to those who are having a tough time seeing air time for us, I suggest that they put on their seat belts and buckle down, because the Rosales family seems to be here to stay, and I hope that they can learn to love us or love to hate us, because it's going to be a fun ride."
Arturo was a character created by former Y&R executive producer and head writer Mal Young. Canela made his first appearance as Nikki's (Melody Thomas Scott) contractor on February 2, 2018, and was given a contract with the CBS soap in July that same year.
Prior to joining Y&R, Canela starred alongside All My Children alum Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo Santos) in the baseball series Pitch and in the Spanish series Donde Esta Elisa, Cosita Linda, and Ruta 35.
At this time, it's unclear when Canela will make his final on-screen appearance as Rey and Lola's brother.
