New Empire star Alicia Coppola (ex-Dr. Meredith Gates, The Young and the Restless) has taken to social media to let fans know she is beyond thrilled for her debut on the music industry-themed primetime drama.
The actress, who joined Empire in a recurring role last November, says her experience filming season five of the FOX show has been "one hell of a ride."
Her social media post also reveals the name of her Empire character: Meghan Conway. As Soap Central previously reported, Meghan is "a smart, flamboyant attorney investigating Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) and international money launderer Damon Cross (Wood Harris). She'll do almost anything for big target convictions because she believes they'll take her to the Governor's mansion and then the White House."
Empire centers on a fictional family who founds a hip-hop music and entertainment company and the drama that ensues as they fight for control of it. The premise began with a hip-hop mogul having to choose a successor among his three sons who are battling for control over his multimillion-dollar company, while his wife schemes to reclaim what is hers.
Coppola has a long résumé with lots of primetime credits like Jericho, Trinity, Cold Feet, Bull, American Dreams, NCIS, Common Law, and Shameless. Her daytime experience includes starring as Victor Newman's (Eric Braeden) prison doctor on Y&R in 2016 and the role of Another World's Lorna, which she played in 1991.
Watch for the premiere of Empire's season five on Wednesday, March 13.
