The Young and the Restless' Kristoff St. John (Neil Winters) and his ex-wife, Mia, have had a challenging year following the death of their 24-year-old son, Julian, who was found dead in a bathroom at La Casa Psychiatric Health Facility in Long Beach, California, last November. Though the young artist's death was originally thought to be a suicide (he had struggled with schizophrenia for years), St. John and his ex have placed blame on the facility, alleging in a lawsuit filed in May that nurses and staff members regularly skipped mandatory check-ins and observations of Julian and that employees falsified documents in order to cover up the claimed neglect (including allegedly writing numerous fraudulent reports that indicate the staff checked in on him more than they actually did).
Both of Julian's parents have been gathering evidence of their claims over the past several months, and the pair is ready to submit their findings by the discovery period deadline on Thursday, October 15. The couple's attorney, Mark Geragos, claims they have information that proves La Casa Psychiatric Health Facility isn't the only facility guilty of wrongdoing.
The trial is set for November 2016, and Mia tells Closer Weekly that she and her ex-husband have had no second thoughts about bringing their son's tragic situation to court. "We're going to trial because we want justice," the WBC World Champion says. "We don't need the money. We just want justice for our son and we're going to get it. This is a fight we will not lose."
