The Young and the Restless' Genoa City will have one fewer resident come summer, because Jessica Collins (Avery Clark) has reportedly been let go.
Soap Opera Digest and Daytime Confidential report that the actress, who joined the series in July 2011, will be exiting the show this summer. It's rumored that head writer Charles Pratt Jr.'s original storyline for the actress' exit was so controversial, it had to be rewritten.
"What Chuck originally planned for Avery would have been the worst thing the soap had ever done," a setside source told Daytime Confidential.
At this time, there's no word on how Avery's exit might impact her recent on-screen pairings, Joe [Scott Elrod] and Dylan [Steve Burton].
Collins taped her final scenes on June 17. Those scenes will air July 21.
