An exciting project is in the works that stars not one but two major daytime veterans. The upcoming film Social Engagement boasts both Donna Mills (ex-Madeline Reeves, GH) and Stephen Nichols (Steve "Patch" Johnson, Days of our Lives; ex-Tucker McCall, The Young and the Restless; ex-Stefan Cassadine, General Hospital).
While not many details about the film have been revealed (other than it's being directed by actor Dylan Vox and was written by Scotty Mullen), Nichols took to Instagram with some behind-the-scenes photos of what he calls a "smart, funny" production that he's thrilled to be a part of.
"Had a blast yesterday working with these beautiful people," the actor shares along with pictures of himself posing with his various costars, the first of which is with Mills -- whom he calls "ageless and gracious."
The second photo is with Ryan Kelly and Aidan Arnold, which Nichols captions: "W/My cinema son and grandson @the_ryan_kelley of #teenwolf fame, Consummate actor and a sweetheart. We connected immediately. And we share a mutual admiration for @shelleyhennig [ex-Stephanie Johnson], my 'Little Sweetness' from #days and his 'Wolffriend'? Aiden Arnold the most adorable, most professional 7 year old! Learned sign language for the part!"
The third photo Nichols shares is with Leah Pipes and Glozell, about which the actor writes: "Don't get me started on @glozell This beautiful woman is a powerhouse and she actually glows! @leahmariepipes10 A real pistol and a force of nature. Great actor."
Nichols sums up his post by describing Social Engagement, which he says is a "smart, funny piece... All in all a wonderful experience. I am so happy I agreed to do it and had the day off!"
Movie buffs might recognize Social Engagement's writer Scotty Mullen as the brains behind Sharknado 5: Global Swarming and The Last Sharknado: It's About Time. But skeptics have no need to worry: the scribe promises that this project is a huge deviation from his former films. "You won't believe what I'm writing now. It's a big change for me," he shares on Instagram, along with a photo that features Mills. "No sharks. No zombies. And everyone keeps their clothes on. (For the most part.)"
At the moment, there are no details regarding the release of Social Engagement. However, DAYS viewers are happy that, after being unceremoniously let go in 2018, Nichols is scheduled to return to Salem later this fall. Some fans fear that a scene in which Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) complained to Adrienne (Judi Evans) that she feels stuck means that she may be looking to divorce her longtime love. Will that be the case, or will Patch come home just in time to save the couple's marriage? Fans will have to keep watching NBC's DAYS to find out.
