It takes a legend to play Dynasty's Alexis Carrington, as proven by the character's original portrayer, Joan Collins. And while there was buzz that All My Children alum Susan Lucci (ex-Erica Kane) could have been the one to step into Alexis' shoes in the CW's reboot of the classic soap, it turns out the honor has gone to Knots Landing alum Nicollette Sheridan (ex-Paige Mathison).
The UK-native, also known for her role as Edie Britt on Desperate Housewives, has taken on the iconic role, according to the show's official Twitter handle.
"And you thought it was dramatic before," the post teases.

As fans may recall, Alexis is the larger-than-life ex of Blake and mother of Steven and Fallon -- and she is bound to bring plenty of soapy fun to the new version of Aaron Spelling's classic series.
The modern version of Dynasty just recently got a full season pick-up and cast Rick Hearst (ex-Ric Lansing, General Hospital; ex-Whip Jones, The Bold and the Beautiful) in an as-yet-unannounced role.
The reboot of the soap premiered on October 11 and stars Grant Show, Brianna Brown (ex-Lisa Niles, GH), Elizabeth Gillies, James Mackay, Alan Dale, Nathalie Kelley, Sam Adegoke, Robert Christopher Riley, and Rafael de la Fuente.
