The CW has officially ordered a pilot for the new, racially diverse Dynasty reboot that sounds like it'll be the next Gossip Girl.

Both soap opera fans and anyone who loves Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage's wildly popular television series, Gossip Girl, will get a serious kick out of the latest news from the CW: the network has officially ordered the pilot for the reboot of the classic Aaron Spelling-produced primetime soap Dynasty, which ran on ABC from 1981 to 1989.

The racially diverse remake, from Gossip Girl's Schwartz and Savage, is described as "a modernized reboot that follows two of America's wealthiest families, the Carringtons and the Colbys, as they feud for control over their fortune and their children," as told "primarily through the perspectives of two women at odds: Fallon Carrington -- daughter of billionaire Blake Carrington -- and her soon-to-be stepmother, Cristal, a Hispanic woman marrying into this WASP family and America's most powerful class."

According to TV Line, the series is set to expose the "dark underbelly" of the one percent, "a corrupt world built on backroom deals, betrayal, and, in some cases, murder."

The original Dynasty series focused on oil tycoon Blake Carrington (John Forsythe), whose daughter, Fallon (Pamela Sue Martin), couldn't stand the fact that her daddy was marrying his much-younger former secretary, Krystle (Linda Evans). The new version's Cristal is a fresh take on the Krystle character, intended to give the reboot a more diverse feel.

At this time, it hasn't been announced if some of Dynasty's other major characters like Joan Collins' scheming Alexis will be a part of the new version, but Deadline says "that would seem logical."

Original Dynasty creators Esther and Richard Shapiro are set to serve as executive producers, meaning the show is likely to be a perfect mix between the original soap opera and Gossip Girl.

The CW first expressed interest in the series back in October.
