Lucy Johnson, CBS's senior vice president of daytime, children's programs and special projects, will leave her post at the end of January. Johnson has been with the network for 14 years.

The nominations have been cast. Thousands of Soap Opera Central users visited the Soap Central web site over the past month to nominate their choices in a variety of categories, such as Outstanding Lead Actor, Favorite Character and Favorite Storyline. We've tabulated all of the nominations and placed the top four vote-getters in each category on a final ballot. Each of the ten soaps has its own final ballot -- and you can vote in as many or as few of those ballotings as you wish.

After two failed attempts to hold a celebration for soap opera fans on its own, NBC has announced plans to again have a soap opera fan gathering. This time, however, the peacock network has found a partner in the Spanish-language channel Telemundo.

With seven nominations apiece, Guiding Light and General Hospital led this year's field of acting nominations for the 30th Annual Daytime Emmys. Every soap -- except for Passions -- scored at least one nomination. It would seem that the overhaul to this year's nomination process accomplished its goal: to provide every soap opera with a fair chance to earn Emmy nominations.

The 30th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards are now in the history book. But this was a decidedly different Daytime Emmy Awards. In fact, you could almost hear the murmurs of, "This is not your mother's Daytime Emmys."
