2019 is ending on a high note for beloved daytime star Kristen Alderson (ex-Kiki Jerome, General Hospital; ex-Starr Manning, One Life to Live). The actress is currently filming a lead role in an upcoming indie film called The Glorious Resurrection of Claire Owens.
Also starring Guiding Light alum Michael O'Leary (ex-Dr. Rick Bauer), the film reportedly follows Alderson as Claire Owens, a woman who agrees to marriage, even though the relationship is unhealthy and likely to be doomed. While heading out on her honeymoon, Claire is involved in a car accident that leaves her on the verge of death. She survives, thanks to an experimental process that fully restores all her capabilities. However, there's a price to be paid: Claire's loved ones will suffer dire consequences in return for her recovery.
Additional stars of The Glorious Resurrection of Claire Owens, which was written by Joseph Craig and is being directed by Craig and Frank Mahzari, include Maya Days, Max Rhyser, Walter Willison (ex-Dr. George Wheaton, Days of our Lives), Elizabeth Inghram, and Wesley Ray.
Alderson landed the role of OLTL's Starr Manning in 1998, when she was just six years old. When the ABC soap was canceled in 2011, the actress brought the character to its sister soap, GH. However, Alderson's days as Starr were numbered: ABC lost its rights to all OLTL characters in a battle with Prospect Park, so the writers chose to have Starr leave town after the character's lover and daughter were killed in a car accident. GH kept Alderson on in the newly created role of Kiki Jerome, but the actress chose to leave daytime in 2015, prompting the soap to cast Hayley Erin as Kiki. Alderson has since appeared in the Off-Broadway play The Marvelous Wonderettes and the television series Mélange.
O'Leary played the role of GL's Rick from 1983 until the series' cancellation in 2009. His additional credits include The Bay, Steamboat, and New Amsterdam.
