Kristen Alderson and Brittany Underwood played best friends Starr Manning and Langston Wilde on OLTL. They may no longer be costars, but now the real-life friends have teamed up to support the new business venture PimpMyPooch.com.
PimpMyPooch.com will operate like other daily deal sites including Groupon and Living Social, offering discounts the website's costumers. As the name hints, the site will be dedicated entirely to products and services for dogs and their owners.
The site won't just offer discounts. It will also help dogs in need. The owners of PimpMyPooch.com are working with a number of nonprofit animal welfare organizations, and the ultimate goal of the venture is to raise funds to help dogs in shelters and rescue groups.
"The great thing about Pimp My Pooch is that we're going to be giving a lot of our proceeds to different dog charities. So it's like everybody wins.... The consumer wins by getting a deal, the doggies are getting saved with the money," Underwood tells Soap Central.
The creators of the site are currently raising funds for their project through an IndieGogo campaign. That's where Alderson and Underwood come in. The two, both dog owners themselves, have lent their star power to the project and are serving as spokeswomen.
"Brittany and Kristen share my passion for rescue and I am so honored to have them on my team using the power of the media and social media to help raise awareness for our pending launch and IndieGoGo crowd funding campaign that seeks to raise $75K," said Jordan Ancel, CEO and Founder of the company.
Alderson is currently starring as Kiki Jerome on General Hospital, a role for which she just received a Daytime Emmy nomination. Underwood was most recently seen as Loren Tate in the TeenNick series Hollywood Heights.
