The search for One Life to Live's new Paige has concluded. Though several daytime vets reportedly auditioned for the role, the show's casting department turned to the Great White Way and offered the role to a Tony Award winner.
Cady Huffman, a 2001 Tony winner for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her work in the play The Producers, will assume the role later this year. A first airdate has not yet been released.
As previously reported by Soap Central, the show's previous Paige -- actress Kimberlin Brown -- opted to leave the role when ABC was unable to meet her salary demands. Brown has since signed on to return to The Young and the Restless where she will reprise the role of Sheila Carter.
Though a newcomer to the world of daytime television, Huffman's acting portfolio contains an impressive roster of Broadway work. In addition to her Tony Award-winning role in The Producers, Huffman has also appeared on La Cage aux Folles, Big Deak, The Will Rogers Follies, Steel Pier and Short Talks on the Universe. Huffman's work in The Will Rogers Follies earned her a Tony nomination in 1991. Huffman has also appeared as an Ednaette in Dame Edna's Royal Tour.
Huffman has also appeared in a handful of motion pictures, including Romance & Cigarettes, Sunday on the Rocks and Space Marines.
Huffman will appear as a contract performer when she debuts sometime in August.
