As part of Pride Month, the Tribeca Festival will be debuting All Man: The International Male Story, a feature documentary narrated by daytime alum Matt Bomer (ex-Ben Reade, Guiding Light; ex-Ian Kipling, All My Children).
The picture, which will screen during the event's Spotlight Documentary section this Sunday, June 12, charts the history of iconic men's fashion catalog International Male and its impact on fashion, masculinity, and gay rights during the three decades it was published.
Founded by Gene Burkard in the 1970s, the catalog featured a wide array of flamboyant clothing, including bikinis, mesh tank tops, wild-patterned shirts, and more -- all of which was modeled by buff and chiseled men. The publication quickly drew a large audience of both gay and straight men alike, reaching a circulation of more than three million and revenues of $120 million.
"Once upon a time, a small band of outsiders formed an unlikely family," Bomer says in voice-over in the teaser, from the script by Emmy- and Peabody-winning filmmaker Peter Jones (Stardust: The Bette Davis Story, Johnny Carson: King of Late-Night). "Together, they created something that would change the way men would look at themselves, and how the world would look at them."
In a social media post, Bomer expressed that he's "excited for the world to see" All Man when it premieres this weekend. "I know this publication meant a lot to many people," he enthuses. "Happy pride!"

Bomer appeared as All My Children's Ian in 2000 and starred as Guiding Light's Ben from 2002 to 2003 before moving on to series such as Chuck and White Collar. He earned an Emmy nomination for playing a closeted writer in The Normal Heart, about the rise of the AIDS crisis in New York. Some of his most recent credits include HBO Max's Doom Patrol, the Netflix limited series Echoes, and the Bradley Cooper feature film Maestro.
