Days of our Lives, Guiding Light alum Melinda O. Fee has died

Actress Melinda O. Fee, known to daytime fans for roles like Days of our Lives' Mary Marshall and Guiding Light's Charlotte Bauer, has passed away. She was 77.

Former actress Melinda O. Fee (ex-Mary Marshall, Days of our Lives; ex-Charlotte Bauer, Guiding Light; ex-Olivia Welles, Santa Barbara; ex-Jill Abbott, The Young and the Restless) died in March at the age of 77. The sad news was reported in SAG-AFTRA's Spring 2020 publication as well as by actress Gilleigh McLain.

"It is with great sadness I tell you, her Facebook friends, that on March 24th [2020], Melinda passed away," wrote McLain on Fee's Facebook page. "She had a massive stroke and passed away in the hospital. She had requested no funeral nor memorial, so don't grieve you missed it. May God hold Melinda, forever, in the hollow of his hand."

The daughter of Charles O. Fee and screen actress Astrid Allwyn, Fee was born on October 7, 1942, in Los Angeles, and began her TV acting career in the 1960s with roles on primetime shows like My Favorite Martian, Lost in Space, and Mannix.

Fee made the transition to soap operas in the early 1970s, starting with the role of Victoria Randolph on Love of Life. That led to several other soap roles, such as Guiding Light's Charlotte Waring Bauer from 1971 to 1973; Dallas' Cathy Baker in 1979; Days of our Lives' Mary Anderson Marshall from 1981 to 1982; and Santa Barbara's Olivia Welles from 1987 to 1988. She was also a temporary replacement in the role of Jill Abbott on The Young and the Restless in 1984.

Some of Fee's other acting credits include The Invisible Man, The Bionic Woman, CHiPs, Eight Is Enough, Knight Rider, and Matlock. Her last listed projects include a 1991 episode of Beverly Hills, 90210 and two films that same year titled Changes and California Casanova.

Fee married Steven S. Harrison in 1985. She had a sister named Vicki who died in 1975.
