Netflix will soon be dropping The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia, and soap opera fans will be happy to hear that it's set to feature both Mario Lopez (ex-Dr. Christian Ramírez, The Bold and the Beautiful) and Haley Pullos (Molly Lansing, General Hospital).
Debuting February 17, the teen series follows actress Paulina Chávez as Ashley Garcia, the world's only fifteen-and-a-half-year-old robotics engineer and rocket scientist. When she gets the chance to work for NASA, she moves across the country to live with her Uncle Victor (Jencarlos Canela), a pro football player turned high school coach. (Editor's note: Yes, Jencarlos Canela is related to The Young and the Restless' Jason Canela [ex-Arturo Rosales]. It's his real-life brother!)
Mario Lopez serves as a co-creator and producer of The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia and will reportedly also make appearances. Haley Pullos will also pop up on the teen comedy. She shared on Instagram that she is thrilled about having joined the Netflix project.
"I'm so thankful to have been a part of such a wonderful show and I cannot wait til u guys can see it too," she shared.
Pullos has been playing the role of GH's Molly since 2009 but has a long list of other shows to her name. Some of her additional credits include Scorpion, Mr. Student Body President, The Mick, Instant Mom, and Growing Up Fisher.
Mario Lopez made a name for himself in the soap opera world when he took on the role of B&B's Dr. Christian Ramírez in 2006. However, he was previously famous for his starring role of A.C. Slater on the late 80s, early 90s teen sitcom Saved by the Bell, which is getting a reboot later this year.
