General Hospital to air special A Christmas Carol special

You know what they say. You can't spell General Hospital without "Bah humbug." Okay, no one says that, but maybe they should. The long-running ABC soap is gifting fans with a very special episode that recreates the holiday classic A Christmas Carol.

Get ready for Michael Easton to play yet another character on General Hospital. If you're keeping track, his roles include vampire Caleb Morley, One Life to Live's John McBain, doctor and murder victim Silas Clay, and his current character, Dr. Hamilton Finn. Next week, he adds the role of Ebenezer Scrooge to that impressive list.

To celebrate the holiday season, General Hospital will air a special stand-alone episode that retells the classic Charles Dickens' Christmas story "A Christmas Carol" with a bit of a Port Charles twist.

While Easton plays the Bah Humbugger himself, several of the show's other stars also get the chance to play someone new. ABC has not released an official statement regarding the talent involved in the project, but Soap Central did a little sleuthing, and here's what we've come up with.

Roger Howarth (Franco Baldwin) and Rebecca Herbst (Elizabeth Webber) will once again play a married couple, with Howarth tackling the hardworking Bob Cratchit and Herbst appeared as Mrs. Cratchit. William Lipton (Cameron Webber) appears as Peter Cratchit and -- we think -- Hudson West takes on the pivotal role of Timothy "Tiny Tim" Cratchit.

Kathleen Gati (Liesl Obrecht), Eden McCoy (Josslyn Jacks), and Maura West (Ava Jerome) will take on the roles of the three ghosts. Gati appears to have been tapped as the Ghost of Christmas Present, McCoy the Ghost of Christmas Past, and a black-cloaked West the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come.

There are also several other General Hospital cast members, including Leslie Charleson (Monica Quartermaine), that appear in the teaser for the episode, which you can view in its entirely below.

The special episode will air in General Hospital's normal time slot on Monday, December 23. This date will not be impacted by preemptions.
