Emmy-nominated fan favorite Lexi Ainsworth (Kristina Davis) has confirmed that she has been let go from ABC's General Hospital. The actress has already taped her final scenes.
"[S]ince it appears to be officially out there I will confirm I shot my last episode at GH yesterday," Ainsworth posted to her Twitter page.
Rumors of Ainsworth's exit have been circulating on the Internet for at least a week. Ainsworth explained that she had been asked not to talk about her exit by General Hospital's executive producer, Jill Farren Phelps, and the show's publicist.
Despite being let go, Ainsworth maintains a positive attitude, and offered support for her former co-stars.
"It's been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life and I wouldn't trade one second of it... even the not-so-great parts for all that I've learned to prepare me for the next phase of my career," Ainsworth added. "I want to THANK each one of you from the bottom of my heart! Soap fans are the best and I'm so glad to have been part of it's legacy. I am still rooting for GH to beat the odds because [the fans] deserve to see the talents of all those amazing people for years to come! I want to thank my castmates, all the wonderful people in hair/makeup and wardrobe for an amazing last day!"
Ainsworth earned her very first Daytime Emmy nomination earlier this year, and had been considered by many to be a shoo-in to win the Outstanding Younger Actress trophy. Ainsworth did, however, win a Young Artist Award in March 2011.
Ainsworth joined General Hospital in June 2009 when the show decided to "age" the character of Kristina. Ironically, there are whispers that GH is again getting ready to make Kristina older. The character is expected to be off-screen for a period of time and return with an older actress in the part.
According to Ainsworth, she won't have much time to sit around and think about her daytime past. The actress has landed a role in a film and will be on-location for five weeks. Ainsworth also noted that she more than likely would not have been able to be a part of the film had she still been working at General Hospital.

A General Hospital spokesperson was not available for comment. A final airdate for Ainsworth was not immediately available, though it is expected near the middle of November.
