Straight from the horse's mouth: Ingo Rademacher will not renew his contract when it expires this summer. The announcement comes after months of speculation.
Rademacher says, "When I first came on [General Hospital], I looked at it as more of a two-year thing. Then I looked at it as a three-year thing. And then I was like, 'All right, I'll do one more year.' Then, 'I'll stay on for a little bit longer.' But that's it. That'll be almost four and a half years." The actor went on to say, "I need a break, I really do. My schedule is really hectic and it's stressful. Basically, I don't want to have any more responsibilities right now."
Rademacher has no firm plans for his post-GH future. "I haven't really built up my resumé. I think [daytime] was a good move. And especially being on General Hospital, the best daytime show, I think. But there are other things I'd like to do."
The departure is just one in a string of high-profile departures for General Hospital and ABC Daytime. Earlier this year, Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) departed the show. Elsewhere on the network, All My Children's James Kiberd (Trevor) and One Life to Live's Robin Strasser (Dorian) have left.
