Chad and Julie set out in search of information about Abigail next week on Days of our Lives, but will it lead them straight to a new character played by 90210 alumnus AnnaLynne McCord?
The actress is set to make her DAYS debut on Wednesday, June 19, and will be heavily involved with a story involving Clyde Weston, which adds fuel to the fire that this woman will end up being Abigail Deveraux DiMera, last played by Marci Miller in 2022.
McCord can't give away too much about her character, but when addressing the rumors that she is the new Abigail, she had a cryptic answer for She Knows Soaps.
"They need to stop reading my journal!" McCord said. "They have to stop that."
However, she did describe how she enters the DAYS scene. "What fans who are clearly very clever will come to figure out very early on is that a certain gentleman who is not quite so gentle by the name of Clyde Weston has his fingers in the storyline of my character," McCord explained. "So I enter day one as 'Mystery Woman.'"
When McCord's casting was first announced last December, she was slated to play a woman named Marin, described as a "fascinating and complicated woman who is devastatingly beautiful, almost angelic in her outward appearance. The desire of many but her heart belongs to only one man who continues to push her away for her own good."
In fact, when McCord was first cast, she was not even sure who she was going to play.
"To be frank, it was very ambiguous in the beginning," she said. "Obviously, there was a writer transition and everything that was going on within the industry politically so to speak...So when I initially came on, no one really knew who I was gonna be. We were figuring it out as we went."
DAYS is McCord's first daytime soap, but she is no stranger to TV audiences. She was a regular on 90210 from 2008 to 2013 as Naomi Clark, but has also had roles on Nip/Tuck, Ugly Betty, Secrets and Lies, and Lucifer.
