Days of our Lives fans might think that the NBC soap's year-long baby swap storyline is coming to a close. After all, Brady (Eric Martsolf) and Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) finally know that their presumed-dead daughter, Rachel, is alive and for the past year has been raised as Sarah's (Linsey Godfrey) daughter, Mackenzie. But just because the truth is out doesn't mean that the drama is over. In fact, far from it.
In a recent interview with TV insider, Martsolf reveals that what comes next -- specifically how Brady and Kristen deal with the massive betrayal from the people around them -- is going to be just as crazy, if not more so, than the drama leading up to the big reveal.
"Brady will have disdain for his grandfather [Victor, John Aniston] whom he's been at odds with. They've always butted heads, but this is a big betrayer. He let his grandson think that his baby had died," the actor previews. "This will carry on throughout the coming weeks. [Brady's] not going to take this well. It's going to be bad."
But if the way Brady reacts is bad, then how Kristen reacts is sure to be far, far worse. After all, she's the one with a rich history of criminal behavior and mental instability.
"Brady asks her to please quietly stay in her cage. He's familiar with what this woman is capable of," the actor says. "Even though she's on her journey to reformation, and she has redeemed herself in many people's eyes, does a tiger truly change its stripes? That's debatable. Brady tells Kristen that they should celebrate what they've found out, [but instead] it's pretty horrific what she does."
But the baby swap fallout doesn't end with Brady and Kristen. Martsolf points out that the show's head writer, Ron Carlivati, has done a fantastic job of constructing a story in which many characters' lives are interlaced together -- meaning nearly everyone in Salem will feel the ripple effect.
"There are a lot of characters that are affected by this and relationships are going to be ripped to shreds as a result of the deceit," he points out. "Maggie's (Suzanne Rogers) world is just crushed. Everyone is a player in this. It's not just two people who found out that their baby is alive. It's a giant cast of characters across the spectrum who will find their lives completely overturned. I love it."
