Days of our Lives is producing a very special tribute to the late Peggy McCay, who played the NBC soap's matriarch Caroline Brady for nearly four decades and passed away earlier this year.
Sources say scenes for a heartfelt memorial honoring McCay's beloved character began last week and will continue this week. Caroline Brady had many ties to the residents of Salem, both past and current. Because of that, many former stars of the daytime series are heading back for the special tribute.
Shortly after sharing a post about a ten-hour flight that involved script work, Christie Clark (Carrie Brady) -- who currently lives in Europe -- was photographed back on set at DAYS with James Reynolds (Abe Carver).
While Carrie's last appearance in Salem was sans her on-screen love Austin, the character's former portrayer Patrick Muldoon took to Instagram with a photo of himself sandwiched between Clark and Kate Mansi (Abigail Deveraux), which has many fans wondering if he will be reprising the role he has shared with actor Austin Peck.

Brandon Beemer took to Instagram Stories to share that he is on set at DAYS this week, meaning his alter ego Shawn-Douglas Brady is likely to appear for the special Peggy McCay tribute scenes.
Meanwhile, Alison Sweeney (Sami Brady) posted to Instagram last week for Giving Tuesday from the DAYS set, which has fans hoping that she has also returned to Salem to celebrate the life of Sami's grandmother.
DAYS fans are hoping many others from the show's history will make return appearances for Caroline's memorial, including Patsy Pease as Caroline's daughter, Kimberly; Charles Shaughnessy as Kimberly's husband, Shane Donovan; Jen Lilley as Caroline's granddaughter, Theresa Donovan; and Peter Reckell as Caroline's son, Bo (who may be dead, but, hey -- wishful thinking).
None of the above casting has been confirmed by DAYS, but Mary Beth Evans (Kayla Brady) did confirm to Soap Opera Digest that a Caroline Brady memorial is in the works. At this time, it's unclear if the soap opera will also include mention of Frank Parker, who played Caroline's leading man, Shawn Brady, and also passed away this year.
