Some people would love to think that Charles Shaughnessy has been working in a barber shop in Flushing, Queens, since his last appearance as Days of our Lives' Shane Donovan in early 2017. In reality, he's been hard at work on shows like Good Behavior and Ghosted. But he might come somewhat close to the aforementioned NYC gig, because his popular 90s sitcom The Nanny may be getting a second chance at life.
The comedy series celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, which got co-creator and star of the former series Fran Drescher to reveal that a revival of The Nanny is on the table.
"We're talking about it," the actress admitted at an event earlier this month. "Peter [Marc Jacobson] and I are talking about it."
Drescher and ex-husband Jacobson co-created the CBS sitcom, which ran from 1993 to 1999. The series, which was loosely based on her life growing up in Queens, followed Fran Fine, a nanny to three children of British Broadway producer Maxwell Sheffield (Charles Shaughnessy).
"The thing is our show would be the same characters twenty years later," Drescher says in regard to a potential revival. "We can't just pick up where we left off. But in a way, that could be really good because the show can have a whole fresh bend to it."

While fans wait for news on whether or not The Nanny will join the long list of shows that have recently been remade (including Roseanne, Full House, and Dynasty), Drescher teases something else major is in the works.
"[Jacobson and I] are working on a very big project," she reveals. "It's going to be very exciting for the fans, but I'm not at liberty to announce it yet. But it's gonna be big."
Shaughnessy, who originally took on the role of DAYS' Shane in 1984, has yet to weigh in on the news of a revival of the popular series he called home for six years. He's recently been working on the romantic web series Foursome alongside former Boy Meets World star Betsy Randle.
