As Soap Central predicted might happen back in February, Days of our Lives has officially become television's third most-viewed soap opera.
According to Nielsen Live+Same Day ratings for the week of April 30 through May 4, the NBC series managed to score a total of 2,301,000 viewers, while General Hospital only pulled in 2,288,000.
The news is creating a ripple of excitement in the social media world, considering DAYS has sat in position four (the lowest position of the four daytime shows) for several years.
"Woo hoo! And climbing!" wrote Kassie DePaiva (Eve Donovan) about the news.

Despite DAYS' ratings victory, both the NBC soap opera and GH are still trailing CBS Daytime's The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful. For the same week, Y&R had a total of 4,089,000 viewers, while B&B pulled in 3,227,000.
What do you think about DAYS taking GH's spot as the nation's third most-watched soap opera? Why do you think DAYS is pulling in more viewers? Why do you think GH is falling behind?
