Andiamo! That's Italian for "let's go!" and that's the invitation The Bold and the Beautiful is personally delivering to viewers as the long-running soap journeys to Rome this Friday. If the sights and sounds of the eternal city aren't enough enticement, B&B has a special guest tapped to make an appearance during the weeklong remote: Andrea Bocelli, classical music's biggest-selling living artist.
The famed operatic tenor, who has performed for presidents, popes, and most recently King Charles III at his coronation, will sing one of his best-known numbers, "A Te," for Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) and Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) -- B&B's version of royalty -- as part of a theme the show has dubbed "eternal love."
Bocelli was born in the Italian village of Lajatico, near Pisa, with a visual impairment that rendered him totally blind by the age of twelve. Despite that, the singer reached fame by submitting a demo tape to ultimate contemporary Luciano Pavarotti, which led to Bocelli recording with Pavarotti himself. Beginning with his first album, Il Mare Calmo della Sera in 1994, Bocelli became known for blending opera with pop music and bringing opera to the masses via duets with the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Christina Aguilera, and Ed Sheeran.
B&B is massively popular in Italy, and this will be B&B's fifth shoot in the country after having traveled to Lake Como in 1997, Venice in 1999, Portofino in 2002, and Puglia in 2012. Lang and Kaye were accompanied by Annika Noelle (Hope), Matthew Atkinson (Thomas), Jacqueline Macinnes Wood (Steffy), Scott Clifton (Liam), and Lawrence Saint-Victor (Carter) for the Roman remote in mid-May. You can watch some of their behind-the-scenes video here.
Bocelli makes his special appearance on June 26. Bocelli's wife, Veronica, and their daughter, Virginia, will appear alongside Bocelli in the episode.
Bocelli's latest album is 2020's Believe, and the classical crossover legend will tour through the US this November and December.
