In a move that can only be described as stunning, The Bold and the Beautiful has recast the role of Taylor Hayes. The show has hired former Days of our Lives actress Krista Allen (ex-Billie Reed) to take over the role, beginning later this fall.
As B&B fans know, Hunter Tylo originated the role of Taylor in June 1990 and has played the role off and on ever since. In 2013, Tylo stunned fans by announcing that she had been taken off contract at the CBS soap. Tylo continued to make occasional appearances, including what ultimately ended up being her final appearance in March 2019.
Fans have been critical of Taylor's missing-in-action status, particularly for major events like Steffy's recent wedding. A setside source states that B&B did reach out to Tylo about reprising the role.
Allen took to Twitter to share her excitement about her return to daytime. "Very excited to step into this iconic role and be back on Daytime after 25 years," she wrote.
This is gonna be a fun one!

Allen began her career on soaps, appearing as DAYS' Billie from 1996 to 1999. After leaving daytime, Allen appeared on primetime shows including CSI, The X-Files, and Baywatch. Most recently, Allen costarred on 9-1-1 and the telemovie I Almost Married a Serial Killer.
According to Entertainment Weekly, which was first to report Allen's addition to the B&B cast, Allen will begin taping at B&B on October 28. Those first scenes will be opposite Steffy and ex-husband Ridge.
Allen is scheduled to first air on December 10, 2021.
