Darlene Conley (Sally Spectra) is recuperating from surgery after a routine examination revealed that the actress had cancer. Conley was diagnosed with stomach cancer in November and underwent immediate surgery.
"Darlene's surgery was successful and the doctors have given her a good prognosis for full recovery," a spokesperson for The Bold and the Beautiful said in a statement. "She has begun to have chemotherapy and radiation, and is doing quite well."
It has been a challenging few years for the actress. Last year, Conley suffered a broken leg and was confined to a wheelchair for a period of time. The injury was not addressed on-screen, though Sally was often seen seated.
Conley celebrates her 18th anniversary with The Bold and the Beautiful, having joined the cast in December 1988. Prior to her B&B role, Conley appeared as Rose DeVille on B&B's sister soap, The Young and the Restless. The soap vet has also appeared on General Hospital and Days of our Lives.
