Billy Magnussen, known to daytime fans as Casey Hughes on As the World Turns, is set to show off his talents in a key role in the upcoming HBO Max series Made for Love.
Deadline reports that the dark series, an adaptation of Alissa Nutting's tragicomic novel, will explore divorce and revenge through the story of Hazel Green (Cristin Milioti), a woman who goes on the run after ten years of marriage to an unstable, needy, possibly sociopathic tech billionaire named Byron Gogol (Magnussen). Hazel soon discovers that her husband has been monitoring her every move, thought, and feeling through the secret implantation of a revolutionary monitoring device called the "Made for Love" chip in her brain.
Made for Love will also star Ray Romano as Hazel's estranged father, Herbert Green, a widower and retired con man who shuns relationships due to a fear of loss. Herbert is set to live out his final years on a remote desert ranch as a shut-in with his synthetic partner Diane -- a high-end, ultra-realistic sex doll. But when Hazel unexpectedly arrives on his doorstep, fearing for her life, he's forced to reckon with internal regrets and take action in ways he'd never imagined.
Magnussen's first major role was playing ATWT's Casey from 2006 to 2010. He went on to star in series like The Divide, American Crime Story, Get Shorty, Maniac, and Tell Me a Story, as well as films like Into the Woods, Game Night, and The Big Short. The actor received a Tony Award nomination in 2013 for his role as Sigourney Weaver's love interest in Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. He can next be seen in a trio of high-profile projects including the James Bond film No Time to Die, the forthcoming Sopranos prequel The Many Saints of Newark, and the historical boxing drama Harry Haft.
