Daytime alum Beverley Owen, who played Linda Elliot on As the World Turns and Dr. Paula McCree on Another World, passed away on February 21 at the age of 81. The actress' daughter, Polly Stone, told TMZ that her mother lost a battle with ovarian cancer, a disease she was diagnosed with in January 2017 but elected to kept private from the public.
Owen got her start in the entertainment industry playing As the World Turns' Linda Elliot, a role she held from 1961 to 1964. She also appeared on The Doctors in 1963 before taking on the role of Another World's Dr. Paula McCree, which she played from 1971 to 1972.
The Iowa native is best known for originating the role of Marilyn on The Munsters, a 1960's sitcom that centered on a sweet family of lovable monsters. The actress left the classic series after just thirteen episodes to marry writer and producer Jon Stone. (They were married from 1966 to 1974.)
Owen's former The Munsters costar Butch Patrick, who portrayed little Eddie Munster on the black-and-white show, was the first to share news of the actress' death. "Beautiful Beverley Owen has left us," he wrote on Facebook. "What a sweet soul. I had the biggest crush on her. RIP Bev and thanks for your thirteen memorable Marilyn Munster episodes."
The late actress is survived by daughters, Polly and Kate.
