Daytime alum Rebecca Budig has gone from Pine Valley to Port Charles to primetime. The actress, known as All My Children's Greenlee Smythe and General Hospital's Hayden Barnes, has landed a several-episode arc on the upcoming drama L.A.'s Finest.
Scheduled to debut in early 2019, the series is based on the Bad Boys film franchise and follows Burnett (Gabrielle Union), a new LAPD detective famous for taking down a drug cartel in Miami. Paired with a new partner, Nancy McKenna (Jessica Alba) -- who's a working mom with an equally complex past -- Burnett is pushed to examine whether her unapologetic lifestyle might be masking a greater personal secret. These two women don't agree on much, but they find common ground when it comes to taking on the most dangerous criminals in Los Angeles.
Budig confirmed her role as Carlene Hart on Twitter.
"I'm trying hard to stay off social media as example to my daughter BUT checking in from time to time," she wrote. "Loving LA's Finest..I'll be in a few episodes..can't wait for you to see it next year!"

Budig, who also played the role of Guiding Light's Michelle Bauer, will be in good company on the upcoming series. Deadline reports David Fumero (ex-Christian Vega, One Life to Live) has also joined L.A.'s Finest in the recurring role of Lt. Jason Calloway, an LAPD lieutenant with the Narcotics Division. Jason and Syd had a one-night stand that colors their occasionally adversarial relationship around the office. A good cop and a total pro, Lt. Calloway is not above arresting any cop who crosses the line.
Hudson West (Jake Webber, GH) and Ryan McPartlin (ex-Hank Bennett, Passions) are also listed in the show's credits.
L.A.'s Finest is set to debut on Charter Communications' Spectrum cable service in early 2019.
