Andy Cohen, known as the executive producer of The Real Housewives franchise and the host of Watch What Happens: Live, is thanking real-life couple and All My Children alums Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley Santos) and Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo Santos) for potentially saving his life.
The Bravo TV exec and self described "tanorexic" reveals that he was diagnosed with skin cancer after Ripa, the bubbly host of Live! With Kelly, and Consuelos, star of FOX's Pitch, urged him multiple times to get a mark on his lip checked out.
"You and I were at a party for Anderson's [Cooper] mom in April, and you said, 'You have a black dot on your lip, I don't think that's something good,'" Cohen told Ripa on-air. "The two of you were dogmatic that I get it checked out, and I didn't because I was like, 'Oh, no, I'm sure it's nothing, it's just a black dot.' [But it turned out to be] melanoma and they removed it, and I just want to thank you because you were so dogmatic."
Luckily, Cohen's health isn't in serious danger due to the cancer. "It's all fine... The lip heals very well, and I really had a chunk removed out of it," he shares, adding, "I am tanorexic, I love the sun. I really do... and of course I never thought that kind of thing would happen to me. [But the experience] will change my relationship to the sun."
During the segment, Ripa revealed that it was the third time she has spotted a questionable mark on a friend. Both she and Cohen stress the importance of getting skin checks -- so get on it, sun soap fans!
