Forget what you heard -- Alicia Minshew (Kendall Hart) is returning to All My Children, and it won't just be for a few scenes next month. The show is confirming that the Emmy-nominated actress will be back on the show full-time by the end of the summer.
As previously reported, Minshew will make a brief return to Pine Valley beginning April 9. Last year, it was widely reported that Minshew did not want to continue with All My Children once it relocated from New York to Los Angeles. One of the reasons offered for Minshew's reluctance to head westward was her marriage to New York-based restauranteur Richie Herschenfeld. Another was the birth of her first child, Willow, in November. In fact, in order to convince Minshew to take time off of her maternity leave to film her upcoming AMC scenes, the network offered to pay airfare for Minschew, Herschenfeld, and their little girl.
Now, however, All My Children's new head writers, Donna Swajeski and David Kreizman, confirm that Minshew will return to AMC full-time by the end of the summer. Still, recent published reports hint that Minshew will stick around only until the end of her current contract.
Meanwhile, it is unlikely that Minshew's on-screen love interest, Thorsten Kaye (Zach Slater), will make a similar return. Though Kaye will also make a short-term return starting April 13, the actor has gone on record several times stating that he doesn't like the idea of working so far away from his partner, Susan Haskell, and their children.
Minshew debuted on All My Children in 2002, when she took over the role of Erica Kane's eldest daughter from Sarah Michelle Gellar.
